Grow Spiritually Devotional - May 2023 - Pentecost

"Grow Spiritually" is a monthly devotional, offered for use with your family or on your own.  Each month will have a theme and will guide you through prayer, Scripture reading, a short devotional, discussion questions, and a blessing.  May's theme is Pentecost.

What troubles your heart today? Jesus knows what troubles our hearts. Whatever is on our hearts, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life to lead us to a place of peace. 

On this Good Shepherd Sunday we celebrate our Confirmands! May we all hear the Shepherd's voice as continue on our faith journey together. 

Do you ever struggle to recognize God's presence around you? The road to Emmaus is an amazing story that a has much to teach us about recognizing Jesus along our journey. 

What did these disciples do along the way? They were curious, conversational, and invitational. 

If we want to encounter Jesus, we can learn from their story. Be curious. Be conversational. Be invitational. 

The disciples had been through a nightmare. They had every right to be afraid, and they carried the shame of deserting Jesus. Yet when he shows up among them, his first words are of peace. 

What fears are you holding today? 

What shame do you carry inside? 

When Jesus comes to you, what words do you expect to hear? 

"Peace be with you."
