In video game industry news, Konami kicks up even more controversy surrounding Kojima leaving and what that means for Silent Hills. Gamestop is knocking it out of the park with its digital sales while the creator of Oddworld tell us why he thinks capitalism is killing video games and we give you our reasons why we both agree and disagree with him. Over in Entertainment news, Ready Player One is ready for prime time, we're getting both a Spock and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark documentary which sends our inner nerds screaming. We close out level 3 with Jason Segel taking over some LEGO projects and why your inner child should be excited about it.

We close out level one covering the newest Secret Wars announcement, Hail Hydra!

In video game industry news, we talk about the newest Mortal Kombat announcements and what that could mean to the overall quality of Mortal Kombat X. In Konami's world we hear rumors of Kojima getting ready to leave the company he has been with for so long. Will this move kill Konami or is this just a power play by the man behind Metal Gear? Over in level 3, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is getting balls deep in Henson with his new Fraggle Rock project, Romeo and Juliet is going to get the "300" remake treatment and Crash Ryan steps out of the pages of Marvel comics to come to the big screen.

In video game industry news, Nintendo has won the console wars (for the month of February) and we tell you why no one cares. VR has taken center stage once again with tons of news from Sony and Oculus which means we get to jump into theoretical talk about what it will take VR to truly succeed in the marketplace. According to this cool article on VR I read before writing this, over in level 3, the BBC is working on a Grand Theft Auto project of their very own, The Blob is getting a remake and we finally talk about the hot mess that is the Ghostbusters franchise.

Maybe it's time to rework Lovecraft's world

Greetings adventurers, and welcome to this weeks installment of The Surly Nerd! We have a heck of a show for you this week, starting off over in the world of comics where we talk about Groot getting his own series and the challenges that brings to the writers of said book, as well as a lengthy discussion about Alan Moore's new project called Providence. Published by Avatar Press, Providence is a new take on the Lovecraft Mythos which spurs us down the rabbit hole of debate as to how relevant H.P Lovecraft is to a modern audience.

In video game news, GDC and PAX have ended and we have all the news that's fit to rant about in there. Valve has gone into more detail about their new Steam machines, controllers and VR but is it too little to late with the NVIDIA shield and their GRID system on the horizon and we close out level 2 with a state of the union address from game developers on where they see the industry heading. Over in level 3 we cover the NIMH remake, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress adaptation by Bryan Singer and what the Captain America: Winter Soldier writers are doing over at Sony Pictures.
