I sat down with Nick McGraw, one half of the new owners of Buzzbin on Kenmore Boulevard. We talk about the transition to ownership, the importance of community, and plans for the future of the venue.
For the first video episode of the goodsoundwaves PODCAST, The Other Guy visited Gosinicc’s Ethan Boggs at his Uniontown, Ohio home.
What started as emotional writing turned into Gosinicc. As time has progressed Ethan went from handling this as a solo project with hired contributors, to creating music within his vocal range and playing with a dedicated band.
Join us as we discuss his entry into music writing and performing, as well as his ongoing plans to rock out and continue creating music he can be proud to call his own.
Ben Marthey is a singer/songwriter from Medina, Ohio. He and his friend started Van Arlo with the idea of creating a full band sound. While they still perform together as Van Arlo, the name has grown to be the name for Ben’s overall creative musical projects. Ben often works with studio and session musicians to form his own indie/strings/rock creations.
You can find Van Arlo at www.vanarlo.com and you can watch the goodsoundwaves SESSIONS performance referenced in this podcast.
Left Unsaid is a metal band from Stow, Ohio. They stopped by the home studio recently for a conversation about their influences and direction. I spoke with vocalist Cody Weber, bassist Zac Verbic, guitarist Luis Atala, and drummer Jordan Solitro. They currently have six songs they’re developing for anticipated release, and they’re actively gigging with dates through early June on the books.
J.J. stopped in to give us an update since his podcast episode last year. For those that didn’t catch the first one, we start out with a refresher on his introduction to music.
He’s been making good progress on his newest album, “Pickin’ & Grinnin'”. It’s an instrumental album with a full band sound.
Ben Tennyson is a singer/songwriter from Stow, Ohio that is currently working on completing his debut album. He’s a multi-instrumentalist that plays most of the parts on his releases, with collaborations focusing mainly on having a friend help him achieve a particular part of his vision.
I recently got to sit down and talk with four of the five members of Gosinicc, an angst-laden hard rocking band of polite, thoughtful misfits.
In this episode of the goodsoundwaves podcast I host a conversation with the band as I get to know a little about who they are, where they came from, and where they’re going.

Coach Cletus and The Other Guy had the opportunity to interview Barberton, Ohio’s singer/songwriter Lauren Brabson. Join use as we learn about how she got started in music as well as the story behind the songs on her first release, “Sad Girl Blues”. She also talks to us about her album “Gypsy” which, like “Sad Girl Blues”, was recorded and released in 2022.
You can often find Lauren performing at local venues and generally doing her part to support local artists and local music.
Background music for the episode is the acoustic guitar track of original music from Lauren’s goodsoundwaves Sessions video performance. Lauren stayed around for a twenty minute session featuring five of her original songs.
The Reverend Double J sat down with Coach Cletus and The Other Guy for some questions. J.J. Vicars shares about his influences, inspirations, instruments, and more in this 45 minute episode. Background instrumental tracks are from J.J.’s earlier releases. All are available for purchase (and some optionally for free) from his website.
In our fourth installment we interview local musician and podcast host Davey Squires. Coach Cletus and The Other Guy co-host this conversation with a local scene fixture. He’s winding down his “California 99” national tour.
We talked about his tour as well as his local music involvement. We’re introduced to one of his favorite instruments as well as his initial motivation to write music.
