In the second installment of our two-part series, we briefly revisit the foundation laid in part one before confronting a growing and uncomfortable reality: more men are choosing to step away from dating altogether. Why?
This episode takes a hard look at the modern dating landscape—especially the influence of dating apps—and how they’ve reshaped relationships in ways that often leave both men and women dissatisfied, just in different ways. We also explore how the cultural emphasis on independence can, at times, make the transition into marriage more difficult for women who genuinely desire it.
We don’t shy away from tougher conversations either. We address why many men hesitate to pursue marriage with single mothers, and how past relationships, personal decisions, and unresolved baggage can carry real consequences in today’s dating market. More importantly, we talk about how to navigate these challenges with clarity and how women can avoid unnecessary heartbreak.
Beyond individual choices, we examine a broader issue: while culture has changed rapidly, many churches still approach dating and relationships as if nothing has shifted. But the truth is, the demographics—and the dynamics—are not what they used to be.
So we ask the questions many are thinking:
Why are men opting out?
Have expectations become unrealistic?
Why do many men still desire marriage—but fear divorce?
And is the Church out of step with the current reality?
This is a candid, unfiltered monologue breaking it all down.

In this episode of Goon Tavern, we confront a crisis most people don’t want to talk about. Dating is collapsing, marriage rates are plummeting, and birth rates are in free fall—and both culture and the church are failing to deal with it honestly.
The dating market has become increasingly broken, with men and women walking away from relationships altogether. Interest in marriage is dropping fast, and the long-term consequences are going to be severe. This isn’t just a cultural issue—it’s a warning sign.
But the harder question is this: what role has the church played? Has the way we handle chastity, relationships, and prolonged singleness actually made things worse? And how much of this breakdown has been shaped by modern ideologies, including feminism, that have reshaped expectations around men, women, and marriage?
In this episode, we break down uncomfortable statistics, challenge popular narratives, and take a hard look at the realities many are avoiding. This isn’t a soft conversation—it’s a necessary one.

In this episode of Goon Tavern, we sit down for a compelling and thought-provoking conversation with Marine veteran Steve Klein.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Steve has spent years engaging with people from a wide range of Muslim backgrounds, participating in outreach efforts at mosques and cultural events. He is a husband, father, and grandfather, a warrior, and a patriot, who has also confronted and investigated Muslims that are posing a serious threat to our nation.
In this episode, we discuss his perspective and connection to the events surrounding the Benghazi attacks on September 11, 2012, as well as his views on Islam, and its impact on America and Europe.
We also take on challenging theological questions for Christians: What does Epistle to the Romans Chapter 13 really require of believers in relation to governing authorities?
When, if ever, is it right to resist?
Is there a point where standing against authority becomes a duty?
These are difficult but important questions—and we explore them honestly and directly.

In this episode of Goon Tavern, we take a hard look at the role of husbands—but not in the way you typically hear from the pulpit.
Instead of the usual Sunday finger-pointing, we approach the topic from a different angle. Many men leave church feeling discouraged, beaten down, and convinced they’re failing as husbands and leaders. Why is that? Is it conviction… or confusion? Are husbands truly falling short, or has the standard been misunderstood?
We dig into these questions and more, tackling real tensions men face in marriage today:
1. “Husbands, love your wives.”
What does that actually look like in practice? Does loving your wife mean keeping her happy at all costs? Are there times when love requires saying no? What does biblical leadership look like—and has the idea of “servant leadership” been misunderstood or misapplied?
2. “Provide for your household.”
Where is the line between wise financial leadership and being labeled controlling? Is it wrong to say no to things you simply can’t afford, or has the definition of provision been distorted?
3. “Wash her with the Word.”
How does a husband lead spiritually without being accused of control? What does loving correction look like—especially when it’s not well received?
This episode isn’t about tearing men down—it’s about bringing clarity, truth, and encouragement so husbands can lead with confidence, conviction, and biblical understanding. At the same time address shortcomings of wives that are ignoring their husbands needs.

In our last episode of Goon Tavern, we sat down with Pastor Edgington to talk about “white knights” and the often-overlooked issue of reviling wives.
What some dismiss as rare or isolated incidents reveals a much deeper and more troubling reality. While “white knights” may exist within the church, many more operate within the secular system—serving as judges, lawyers, and officials in a family court structure that, in some cases, leaves devastation in its wake. Fathers are financially ruined, separated from their children, and pushed into deep depression—often ending in tragedy of one ending their life.
This episode is not theory. It’s not exaggerated. It’s real.
We share one true story—just one among thousands—of families being torn apart by a system that many believe is failing those it was meant to protect. Fathers—are being portrayed as villains by a system that often lacks balance, accountability, and compassion. Too many Fathers feel ignored and voiceless. Not anymore.
For legal and personal safety reasons, our guest remains anonymous due to his ongoing case.
If you take anything away from this episode, let it be this: don’t walk away indifferent. Let it move you. Let it stir you to speak up, to ask questions, and to get involved.
Because these stories are happening every day—and they deserve to be heard.

On this episode of Goon Tavern, I had the privilege of interviewing Pastor David Edgington.
David is a husband and father who holds a PhD and is the founder and executive director of Compassionate Counselors, a biblical counseling ministry founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 2004. He has been a certified biblical counselor with ACBC (formerly known as NANC) since 1995 and an IABC certified counselor since 1997. In addition to his counseling ministry, he is also the author of several books addressing biblical counseling and Christian living.
In this episode, we discuss his newest book, White Knights and Reviling Wives, recently released by New Christendom Press.
In this important and timely conversation, we explore the issue of “white knights” in the church—men who refuse to hold wives accountable when they fall into sin—and the destructive effects this can have on marriages and church life. We also address the problem of reviling wives and examine how feminist ideology has influenced both the family and the broader church.

Welcome everyone to the Goon Tavern.
I’m the Goon, and I’m excited to welcome you to the very first episode of the podcast—a place where we challenge ideas, pursue truth, and maybe even blow your mind along the way.
In this opening episode, I’ll share the vision behind the podcast, what I hope to build here in the future, and the kinds of conversations you can expect as this journey unfolds.
We’ll also dive into our first monologue topic: American immigration and the H-1B visa system—an issue that sparks a lot of debate and deserves a closer look.
Some people say I like to poke the bear. That’s not quite right.
I don’t poke bears, that's stupid!
I poke demons in the eyes and kick them in the balls.
So grab a drink, settle in, and buckle up.
Welcome to the Goon Tavern.
