Tom Emmer dropped out of the speaker race just hours after his party selected him as its latest nominee. Jenna Ellis, a former lawyer for Donald Trump, pleaded guilty today in the Georgia election case. In a deal with prosecutors, Ellis, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings, which is a felony. Ellis will not face jail time but will serve five years of probation, receive a $5,000 fine, and serve 100 hours of community service. She was also ordered to write an apology letter to the people of Georgia. Bank records released on Friday show Joe Biden received $200,000 in funds from his brother, James Biden — more proof that President Biden directly profited from his family’s selling of influence.
