A book publisher is revitalizing a Ukrainian storybook that kept her entertained as a child, and raising funds for the Canada Ukraine Foundation at the same time. Lorene Shyba says her Babka used to read to her from "The Little Book" by Mykola Matwiczuk was originally published in 1932 and was used as part of the curriculum for Canadian-Ukrainian children in prairie schools. Containing poetry, parables, alphabet letters, and illustrations, Shyba says the book has been with her for her entire life. Now, she's publishing a new edition of the book, with new translation, and donating the proceeds to the Canada Ukraine Foundation. Shyba joins Gormley to tell us more about the project.

Joseph Bourgault has announced he will be running for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada. Bourgault is the CEO of Bourgault Tillage Tools and the Founder and President of a non-profit organization called Canadians for Truth. Bourgault was born and raised in St. Brieux, Saskatchewan, and he joins Gormley to discuss his platform and goals.

Canada’s Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson says Canada will be sending oil to Europe, with details to be announced later this month. Is there a chance of more local oil production as a result of the war in Ukraine? What will the effects be for our energy sector and economy? To find out, John checks in with Saskatchewan’s Minister of Energy and Resources, Bronwyn Eyre.

There are more than 4,000 charities and non-profits active around Saskatchewan, and we're featuring some of the great people doing great work in this province during our new segment called "The Best of Saskatchewan." In this week's feature, we'll meet Michelle McKeaveney, co-founder of River Valley Resilience Retreat, a non-profit aiming to open a permanent space for public safety personnel, veterans, and their families to connect with peers while developing skills to deal with post-traumatic stress. Michelle McKeaveney co-founded the project, and she joins John to share the details.

Dr. Ryan Todd, a psychiatrist who grew up in Saskatchewan, is trying to change the way mental health is addressed in the workplace. His company Headversity offers in-workplace support for mental health, and is already working with large companies like Shell, United Way, SaskPower, and Blue Cross to help ensure their employees have a skillset that lets them recognize and address mental health issues. According to Tom Blackwell, reporter with the National Post, so many Canadians have signed up to travel to Ukraine and join the armed forces in the defense against Russia's invasion that the Canadians actually have their own battalion. The group is composed of upwards of 500 fighters, and is based in Kyiv. Blackwell joins Gormley to tell us about the Canadians going to fight in Ukraine.

Saskatchewan-born Bryce Walker was living in Kyiv with his girlfriend at the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but was forced to give up his adopted homeland and leave the country. Walker and his partner have now made their way into Warsaw, Poland, making them part of a group of refugees 2.5 million strong departing from Ukraine. Walker joins Gormley to share the story of his journey from Kyiv into Warsaw.
