The first-quarter financial report is out from the Saskatchewan government and it falls short. There is a surplus of $485.5 million, but that’s down more than half a billion dollars from the forecasted budget. Donna Harpauer is the Finance Minister and joins Gormley to explain why the government is so far off from its expected surplus for 2023-24.

We have all seen the cost increase when sending kids to school. A new study from the Fraser Institute " name of study" looked at it and discovered that 8 out of 10 provinces have seen record increases in spending for students in public schools. Only Saskatchewan and Alberta saw a decrease in spending. Michael Zwaagstra is a senior fellow at the Fraser Institute and co-author of the study. He joins Gormley to explain how much is spent on kids to attend public schools.

Canada has issued a travel advisory for LGBTQ people who visit the United States. This had Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland defending the advisory and the professionals who monitor if dangers to particular groups of Canadians exist. Tom Korski, the managing editor for Blacklock's Reporter in Ottawa, joins Gormley to discuss what is happening in Ottawa that has this travel advisory now in place.

As kids head back to school next week, one thing to be aware of is driving through school zones. From 7 am to 7 pm the speed limit is 30 km/h, and not following the posted speed limit could result in hefty fines.
