After suffering a nervous breakdown in 2011, Christalee Froese embarked on a two-year joy project to restore the happiness she’d lost. In 2018, the book outlining her journey was released, becoming her publisher’s bestseller in just three weeks. While touring with Journey to Joy, Froese was made profoundly aware of how many people across the province struggle with mental health issues. Her response was to start ‘The More Joy Movement’ which hosts mental-health events and gathers joy-seekers together for a More Joy Challenge on Facebook. The second annual ‘More Joy Regina’ event will be held at the Conexus Arts Centre on Jan. 29. It will bring together depression/anxiety speakers and provincial mental health professionals and organizations to offer the public real-life experiences and coping strategies. The four-hour evening is a fundraiser for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Regina Branch. Keynote speakers Clint and Joanie Malarchuk will tell their story of surviving Clint’s suicide attempt, an attempt that left a bullet lodged in Clint’s skull. The NHL goalie has written a book, The Crazy Game, which outlines his life-long struggle with mental-health issues from anxiety and depression to OCD and PTSD.

Devastation has set in around the world over the helicopter crash that killed basketball great Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, coach Christina Mauser, teammate Alyssa Altobelli and her parents John and Keri, teammate Payton Chester and her mother Sarah, and the pilot Ara Zobayan. When a celebrity dies we grieve as if we knew them when in reality we don't actually. Garry Prediger is a social worker with Penney Murphy and Associates. He joins Drew to talk about grieving celebrities and grieving multiple victims and multiple deaths in the same family.

Saskatoon's Royal University Hospital has changed its system for parking payment, and it's got lots of people unhappy. Under the new system, parking is paid for upon arrival rather than departure in order to save costs on replacing the aging parking gates at the hospital. Hospital visitors would face a ticket if they exceed the time they paid for upon arriving, but they can download an app to email extensions and track their parking. Is this just a cash grab? Regina Mayor Michael Fougere joins Drew to discuss the Co-op/Unifor labour dispute and how it has impacted the City of Regina. Fougere met with Unifor's national president Jerry Dias last week, and expressed "deep concern" for public safety and access to the refinery.

Gerald Tegart, became the Law Society of Saskatchewan’s new president on Jan. 1. He says relaxing the rules around tasks paralegals and other non-lawyer service providers are barred from performing could be a key to greater access to justice in northern Saskatchewan. Tegart joins guest host Drew Remenda now to discuss this and his new title.

Peter MacKay has announced he is joining the race to be the next leader of the Conservative party. He officially launched his bid to capture the leadership of the federal Conservative party crowd in Nova Scotia over the weekend. The former federal cabinet minister, earlier this month had tweeted "I'm in. Stay tuned." MacKay’s joins guest host Drew Remenda to talk about running to replace outgoing leader Andrew Scheer.

Today marks the 75th anniversary of Auschwitz. Irving Roth is Holocaust survivor, writer and internationally-known educator who survived the Auschwitz and Buchenwald death camps during WWII. Irving joins Drew to share his story.
