  • Equip & Empower Podcast with Christine Caine - Episode 416 | Faith Is Forged by Fire: What Your Trials Are Actually Doing in You

God has not forgotten you. He is forging you.

There is a difference, and it changes everything about how you endure what you are walking through right now.

In the tenth episode of our A Life Unleashed series, Christine Caine opens 1 Peter 1:1–9, a letter written to Christians who were being persecuted, tortured, and displaced under Nero's reign, and brings a word that is as urgent and necessary today as it was then: the fire you are in is not punishment. It is purification. And the goldsmith holding you over the flame is the creator of the universe, who loves you.

In this episode, Christine Caine walks through Peter's letter to scattered, suffering believers and shows that trials serve two purposes that cannot be achieved any other way: they prove whether your faith is the real deal, and they forge you into the image of Christ. She introduces the goldsmith's process — how gold must be held over the hottest part of the fire so that the impurities invisible from the outside rise to the surface, so the refiner can skim them off until the gold is pure enough to reflect their own face — and shows that this is exactly what God is doing in every fiery trial you face. She traces the endurance of Jesus through every betrayal, misunderstanding, false accusation, and suffering He faced, not to inspire guilt but to anchor hope. He endured all of it so that the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead could live in you. The compelling takeaway is this: a faith that has not been tested is a faith that can't be trusted and the trial you are in is making your faith more precious, not less.

    ✨ If you've ever asked questions like…

✅ Why is God allowing this trial when I am trying to follow Him faithfully?

✅ How do I keep believing God is good when everything around me feels like it's falling apart?

✅ Is it possible to have genuine hope in the middle of real suffering, not just positive thinking?

✅ How do I know if my faith is actually real, and what does it even mean for faith to be tested?

✅ Why do some seasons feel like one trial after another with no relief?

✅ How do I keep going when I am on the verge of giving up?

✅ Can God actually redeem something as painful as abuse, betrayal, or devastating loss?

    …then this is your episode.

    What you'll learn:

→ Why trials do not make your faith genuine but prove whether it is — and how the goldsmith metaphor from 1 Peter 1 reframes every fiery season you are in as purification rather than punishment, with a loving refiner holding you in the flame.

→ How to maintain an eternal perspective in a temporal trial — why remembering who you are, what you have, and where you are going changes your capacity to endure what you don't understand, even when God hasn't explained the why.

→ How Jesus Himself endured every form of betrayal, suffering, misunderstanding, and trial — and why the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead living inside you means you have a supernatural ability to endure that goes far beyond your own natural strength.
