Harry Wilson (1929-2023) grew up a respectable religious lad, believing he was going to heaven on the basis of his good life. But attending gospel meetings in his teens, Harry learned he was a sinner who needed to be saved, and on 1st March 1945 he trusted alone in Christ for salvation. 7 years later, on 13th Feb 1952, he left the UK for the land of Brazil to preach the gospel. 60 years later, at the Larne conference in 2012, he told of his “salvation and call” after reading and commenting on the first part of Acts 9. Gordon Williams (1942-2018) was saved in 1973. At that time, he was a 31 year old scientist who had issues with creation, evolution and the accuracy and reliability of the Bible. Then two ladies from the local Gospel hall in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, knocked on the WIlliams’s door. Gordon’s wife Doreen was soon saved, but Gordon was a “terrible sceptic” and it took him a long time to be convinced. God worked in his heart and he was eventually brought to repentance and faith in Christ. In this recording, Gordon tells how he then wondered “What am I doing with my life?” He went out full time preaching the gospel in various parts of Canada and God blessed his labours, at the latter part of his life among the Hutterites. Robert Eadie (Bobbie) tells the story of his conversion to Christ as a 15-year-old lad in East Belfast. During a series of gospel meetings by the evangelist Harold German, young Bobbie had two near fatal accidents in one day. He was reminded of the verse “God speaketh once, yea twice” and it concentrated his mind on his need to be saved. Listen as Bobbie Eadie tells of his deliverance through the words of John 3:36. Alexander Lyttle (1912-1976) was the youngest of 13 children. Saved at 22, Mr Lyttle credits his praying mother and a godly Sunday School teacher with laying a foundation that God later used in his salvation. After his conversion, on 16th Jan 1934, Mr Lyttle was associated with the Baptist Church. After 12 years, he became a Baptist Pastor and for 8 years looked after three Baptist congregations in his homeland of Northern Ireland. However, as he read and studied his Bible, he discovered there was no such thing as a one-man ministry or a “settled ministry” in the New Testament. After 3 years of careful investigation, he became fully convinced that his position was untenable, and in 1954 he came into fellowship with the assembly meeting in Bushmills, being fully prepared to take up a secular job. However, immediately the Lord opened doors for him to continue preaching the gospel. For many years he partnered with Albert McShane and God blessed his labours. In this recording, given in 1964, he tells his story. (Reading: Isaiah 53:5)
