The gospel will go forth as Christ commanded. Matthew 28:18-19 was brought up in the class discussion. The idea of taking over nations in the name of Christ is a perversion of the Great Commission and a false definition of the church. The self-perpetuating institutional church results in the type of idolatry and false religion common among the pagans.

We discuss the divine council as shown in Job and 1 Kings 22. Christians must make decisions based on God’s revealed will in Scriptures. Sufferings which attend the gospel are part of what must happen as long as the church age goes on.

We explain how being filled by the Holy Spirit is not a spatial issue but a relational issue. We show from the Old Testament that God’s shekinah glory given to Israel did not mean God failed to be omnipresent. In other words, God’s shekinah glory was not a spatial issue, but this glory showed that Israel uniquely had a saving relationship with God

We need no special knowledge of demons or curses to be free from undesirable situations. The promises of God in Christ do not depend on secret knowledge of techniques to break curses, but an eternal, saving relationship with God which transcends the bad fate or spiritual curses the pagans fear.

The gospel is not based on techniques to manipulate spirits or curses, but on having a relationship with Jesus Christ through the gospel.

This second message on the Lord’s Supper continues to explore how the theme of reversal is also found in dinners in the New Testament as Christ dines with sinners. We also examine how the four cups used in Passover help explain the significance of Christ’s fulfillment of the Paschal Lamb typology.

Ccelebration of the Lord’s Supper is a precursor to this great messianic banquet held at the end of the age.

Some want to manipulate the spiritual world for money or power while others are smitten with godly fear and magnify the Lord. We discuss examples from Luke-Acts that demonstrate this. Some turn to the Lord and others seek to gain religious status or money. The appropriate response is to glorify God and believe fully in His Messianic salvatio
