Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:30 We'll have an episode out next week and will be off August 28th. We will likely have less episodes in September due to the awards show. I've been watching The White Lotus on HBO and highly recommend it. Chandra is watching tennis.
Dirty celebrities: Minutes 5:30 to 17:30 A couple of weeks ago Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher told Dax Shepard on his podcast that they only bathe occasionally and that they don't wash their children until they have visible dirt on them. They also said they just rinse off and don't use soap, which is gross. Dax Shepard said he didn't use soap much either, and then Dax and Kristen Bell said they don't wash their kids until they start smelling bad, which they've doubled down on. The low point came when Jake Gyllenhaal was promoting his partnership with Prada cologne. He told Vanity Fair he doesn't bathe much and claimed "we naturally clean ourselves." I got hate mail for our coverage of that, in which we told people to bathe. So many people were telling on themselves in the comments too.
Chandra's tweet about this went viral. Celebrities like Questlove, Jameela Jamil, Andy Richter, Roxanne Gay and Ellen Barkin retweeted it.
The Rock said he bathes three times a day while Jason Momoa promised that he keeps clean. Both Chandra and I bathe at least once a day and often twice a day. We also regularly clean our sheets. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about our childhood memories bathing. It's white privilege to say you don't bathe. There aren't enough parents teaching children basic hygiene and how to clean and do laundry.
Royals: Minutes 17:30 to 25:30 Virginia Giuffre has filed a federal suit against Prince Andrew in New York for "sexual assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress." She's been public with her story for years about being a trafficking victim of Jeffrey Epstein and a victim of Prince Andrew. She previously successfully sued Ghislaine Maxwell. She wants people to know what Prince Andrew did and she's looking for justice. The Queen is protecting Andrew but Prince Charles will surely cut him off once he's king. Prince William wants Andrew to move out of Royal Lodge because he wants to live there. William and Charles now find Andrew to be a liability and they're said to hate his legal team.
Andrew and Fergie and their daughter, Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are now at Balmoral with The Queen. Andrew is said to have been summoned there by his mother for crisis talks. Chandra thinks that William and Charles will find some way to "punish" Andrew and that they'll all take credit for it. She doesn't think he'll get kicked out of his house. Chandra wrote a great line about that which got a lot of attention on Twitter. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this. It's odd that William wants Andrew's place considering how many properties the Cambridges already have.
Comments of the Week: Minutes 25:30 to end My comments of the week are from Driver8 and SarahCS on Hecate's post about how cats are one of the only species who prefer free food to having to work for it.
Chandra's comments of the week are from Molly and Beenie on the post about Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson refusing to get vaccinated.
Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 3:30
We were off last week due to technical issues. We'll have episodes out for the next two weeks and will be off August 28th. Due to the awards shows in September we may have less episodes next month.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: Minutes 3:30 tp 9:30
When we were off Ben Affleck rubbed Jennifer Lopez's butt on a yacht just like on the Jenny From The Block video! Chandra was hoping for that and it happened I can't believe it. She has more parts of the video she wants replicated. Chandra loves this story and wants other people to enjoy it too.
Ben and Jen have been in Capri and they look like they're posing for an ad in some of the paparazzi photos. They look totally in love and happy. Jennifer is scheduled to appear at the Met Gala and we hope she brings Ben as her date! Ben has lost weight and he looks like he's dressing better. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about them. We hope Ben and J.Lo walk red carpets together. Ben looks happier because he doesn't have any responsibilities like he did with Jennifer Garner.
Royals: Minutes 9:30 to 19:45
Here's a link to the mailing list signup where you can get the top 8 stories about Prince Harry's upcoming memoir. We wonder how much dirt Harry will dish. Chandra says some of The Me You Can't See shocked her, particularly when Harry said there were parallels between his mother's experience and his. Meghan and Harry have called out the firm and we expect Harry to do that in his book too.
Duchess Meghan just had her 40th birthday on Wednesday and to celebrate she posted a cute video with Melissa McCarthy and posted a letter to the Archewell site encouraging people to devote 40 minutes to service. She emphasized that a lot of women have lost jobs due to the pandemic and encouraged people to look into mentoring. So many people offered their services and used her hashtag #40×40. Princess Eugenie, Adele, Amanda Gorman, Hillary Clinton and others have joined this initiative. We wonder if that's the office where Meghan works or if she was just filming there. We loved her setup including the little dog bed.
While the Cambridges have been on vacation the press has been going after Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. Eugenie's husband, Jack Brooksbank, is a brand ambassador for Casamigos Tequila and he was seen on a yacht in Capri, Italy with other women. It looks like a work thing, but it also was bad optics for Jack. The woman who went topless gave an interview and she's hilarious. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice's husband, was seen walking in NY with his ex, Dara Huang. Dara and Edo have a five year-old son together so it could have been perfectly innocent, but some of their other circumstances are shady. They still work together and share an office building. We think the press is going after them because they're bored, but it also might be The Cambridges and/or Prince Charles giving the go-ahead. Chanrles has been trying to cut out the Yorks and both of his brothers' families. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this.
Matt Damon: Minutes 19:45 to 23:30
Matt Damon is promoting the movie Stillwater. He told a story revealing that he realized just a few months ago that he should not use the anti-gay F word. In the first version he told a joke with the f-slur from his movie Stuck on You (2003) to his daughter. He tried to tell her it was funny but his daughter wrote him a treatise on not using it. In Damon's apology, he changed his story about telling the joke to his daughter and tried to claim he was educating her about it.
Comments of the week: Minutes 23:30 to end
My comment of the week is from Ninks on the post about Destry Spielberg claiming she didn't benefit from nepotism.
Kaiser's comment of the week is from Tiffany on the post about Princess Charlene staying in South Africa until the end of October.
Thanks for listening bitches! Text us or leave us a voicemail at 434-218-3219.
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:30 We will be off next week and will have another episode out on August 1st. I met Karen in person and it was a lot of fun! Chandra thinks I should get a pet. Chandra's mom and Hecate have gotten new kittens recently. Here's a link to the podcast I mentioned about old Hollywood romances called Lovers Forever. Chandra loved watching Wimbledon, particularly the women's final.
Royals: Minutes 6:30 to 20:30 Duchess Kate is the royal patron of the All England Club and The Duke of Kent is the honorary president. He is the Queen's cousin and is always at Wimbledon to present the trophies. Kate has finally been able to get The Duke of Kent's job. Prince William went to the women's final but he usually skips the women's matches. Kate didn't get much attention at Wimbledon.
When Will and Kate arrived at their seats at Wimbledon people clapped for them. Priyanka Chopra, who is friends with Meghan, was seated two rows behind them and did not clap. She just fussed with her scarf and gave them a quick side eye. Australians are upset with Will and Kate because they seemed to be rooting for Czech player, Karolína Plíšková, instead of the Australian Ash Barty.
Italy beat England in the Euro finals. Meghan's name was trending because of how the British royal family was racist to her. British trolls on social media were also racist to their own players for missing penalty kicks. The Football Association and their president, Prince William, issued statements condemning the racism. Of course people on our side of the pond pointed out how hypocritical that was of William when he never once spoke out against the racist abuse of his sister-in-law Predictably the British press did not mention William's hypocrisy.
William also left the Euro finals match without congratulating the Italian team. He was supposed to participate in the trophy ceremony, however he left before that happened. Italians are saying that he snubbed them. There could have been legitimate security issues however he didn't shake hands with the Italian PM either.
We've been talking about the fact that Sophie and Edward are trying to take a bigger role now that Philip has passed. Philip is said to have wanted Prince Edward to inherit his Duke of Edinburgh tite, however that title automatically passed to Charles. Now we're hearing that Charles is feeling petty and might not pass the title to Edward. Two different sources told The Times of London that Charles didn't want to give the Edinburgh title to Edward or the Wessexes. Richard Kay had a follow up in the Daily Mail with more about why Charles is mad at Edward. Chandra says the Wessexes have been tacky in how many interviews they're giving and she understands why Charles wants to streamline the monarchy.
Emmy Nominations: Minutes 20:30 to 27:45 We got the Emmy nominations this week and a lot of our favorite shows were nominated. Mare of Easttown and Lovecraft Country got nominated along with acting noms. The shows that tied for the most nominations were The Crown and The Mandalorian and after that was Ted Lasso, which we both loved, WandaVision, The Handmaid's Tale and SNL. We wonder if anyone is still watching The Handmaid's Tale. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about Carl Lumbly getting snubbed for his work in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Only Don Cheadle got a nomination in the guest actor category, but Carl was also submitted for supporting actor. Some of the acting categories had a lot of nominees. The Emmy rules state that there need to be the same number of nominees in the paired performer categories. Chandra says Mindy Kaling was snubbed for Never Have I Ever.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: Minutes 27:45 to 31 Ben Affleck was seen out with Jennifer Lopez's daughter, Emme. Ben's son Samuel, 9, was also there. Here's a link to the photos of Emme that Chandra mentioned. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about Ben and J.Lo. Jennifer recently did interviews saying she was fine on her own, but her actions say otherwise.
Comments of the Week: Minutes 31:00 to 37 My comment of the week is by Evenstar and is about Owen Wilson. Chandra's comment of the week is from Sunday on the post about Prince Charles intending to have dinner with Prince William.
Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:15 We weren't sure we could record this week because my power went out for a couple of hours. We will have another episode out on July 18th and will be off August 1st. I released this on Saturday as I was traveling. Please let us know if you would like us to continue to release on Saturdays or if Sundays are fine as usual. Chandra has been watching Wimbledon and is looking forward to the women's final. Roger Federer lost in the quarter final and he looked injured. We talk about our random injuries.
Royals: Minutes 4:15 to 16:30 Last week we talked about Duchess Kate not going to the statue unveiling, which was surely William's idea. This week we heard that she was exposed to covid, but the palace was squirrely about where that exposure happened, only stating that she learned about it on Friday when she was at Wimbledon. The timeline is that on Tuesday, Kate, William and Prince George went to the England-Germany football match. Then on Friday July 2nd Kate was at Wimbledon. On Monday they announced that Kate was self isolating after being exposed to someone who tested positive for covid. The timeline suggests that Kate was exposed at the football match with George and William, which begs the question as to why those two aren't isolating too. It's also possible Kate was exposed somewhere else. We wonder if Kate is double vaccinated as they claim. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this. It really looks like Kate and William don't live together because William didn't have to quarantine.
Minute 11:00 Princess Charlene has been in South Africa since mid May as far as we know. She's been married to Prince Albert for 10 years and they have twins together, Gabriella and Jacques, who are six. I have a mailing list signup with the top 8 stories about how she's trying to escape. You can find the link to that at http://celebitchy.com/podcast under episode 96. Charlene has gone through about three drastic hair changes in the past few months and she hasn't been seen in Monaco since the beginning of the year. We heard that Charlene is staying in South African because she has had ENT issues and has had to have multiple surgeries for that, which is why she missed her tenth anniversary. Albert had a paternity claim come up at the end of December for a child conceived in 2005, when he was dating Charlene. He has two known out-of-wedlock children, who are now young adults. Before Charlene and Albert were married she was caught trying to pull a runaway bride and was apprehended by police at the airport in Nice trying to fly home on a one way ticket to South Africa. We wonder if Charlene has to choose between her freedom and her children. Charlene issued a statement saying she misses Albert and her children.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: Minutes 16:30 to 22:15 Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez did their first pap stroll together! Multiple agencies had the photos of them out walking in the Hamptons and they're wearing coordinating beige outfits so it was definitely planned. You can tell that Jennifer is styling Ben as he looks groomed and put together. There was a story in People Magazine with insider quotes about the strength of their relationship. Ben, Jennifer and her 13-year-old twins and Ben's son, Samuel, 9, were seen at Universal Studios before Ben and Jennifer headed to the Hamptons. US Magazine has a cover story with syrupy quotes about them. We wonder whether Ben or Jennifer is behind all the cheesy stories about them in the press. I play a segment from Zoom where Michelle, Karen, Ameerah and Zakia talk about this. We wonder whether Jennifer is going to clean up after Ben's messes. Either way it's a fun story for us.
Comments of the Week: Minutes 22:15 to 26 My comment of the week is from SusanRagain on the link post of Marion Cotillard at Cannes in a ridiculous Chanel outfit.
Chandra's comment for the week is from AVEA on the post claiming Prince Philip wouldn't want Queen Elizabeth to mourn.
Thanks for listening bitches! Call us or leave a voicemail at 434-218-3219
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 We missed the episode that was supposed to come out on June 20th because I left my webcam plugged in and the audio didn't record right. We'll have episodes for the next two weeks and will be off on July 25th. Our podcast will come out on Saturdays for this episode and episode #96 and then we'll release on Sundays as usual.
Chandra is watching Wimbledon. Players are falling and getting injured because the conditions on the court are so wet and slippery. Here are links to some videos of players slipping on the court. The organizers are just shrugging as players get injured as there's not much that can be done.
Royals: Minutes 6:00 to 17:00 We finally got the fakakta statue unveiling. The stories in the lead-up to that showed a huge difference in William and Kate's PR, as we've been seeing for months. The narrative around Kate is that she's keeping the family together and soothing her angry husband. William's PR centers around him being the future king and being angry. Harry's PR has been masterful.
We heard over the weekend that Kate wouldn't be at the statue unveiling and that the royal rota wouldn't be there either. They tried to blame Harry for Kate not coming, but it was clearly William's call. There was a crazy story about how Carole Middleton is William's "second mum". It was really obnoxious and obvious in the lead-up to the unveiling of the Diana statue. I mention the story about the Cambridges looking for property and schools near her family. I play a segment from Zoom where Karen, Zakia, Sara and Ameerah talk about the lead up to the statue unveiling. Chandra and I think the statue is ok but it's not great. Prince Harry looked relaxed and confident at the unveiling, and William looked decent, for him. He didn't look angry for once, maybe because Kate wasn't there.
Britney Spears: Minutes 17:00 to 24:00 We finally heard directly from Britney Spears after 13 years. She testified in her conservatorship case and her situation is much worse than a lot of us imagined. The worst part is that she said she has an IUD that she'd like to have removed so she can have more children, but her conservators won't let her. Britney also described being put on lithium and being institutionalized for four months as punishment for leaving her Las Vegas residency. The official story from Britney's father was that her medication needed to be adjusted. Britney also stated that she had only just learned that she could petition to have her conservatorship lifted, which raises questions about the competency of her court appointed lawyer. A request to have Jamie Spears removed as co-conservator was just denied. Many people have compared Britney's situation with Kanye's situation. The differences between how they were treated is striking. Britney hasn't had autonomy in so long despite not having any issues in years.
Comments of The Week: Minutes 24:00 to My comment of the week is from Girl Ninja on the about Kristen Bell saying that she and her husband, Dax Shepard, do therapy separately now.
Chandra's comment of the week is from Zapp Brannigan on the story that claims Prince Philip would have wanted Countess Sophie to seek the spotlight.
Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:45 Our next podcast will be released on Saturday morning, June 19th instead of Sunday morning as usual. After that we're taking two weeks off. I've been bingeing the show 911 and I love how ridiculous and cheesy it is. Chandra has been watching The French Open and Wimbledon is coming soon.
Royals: Minutes 5:45 to 26:45 Just last week we were wondering when Meghan would have her baby. The Sussexes actually announced last Sunday that they welcomed daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on Friday. Their statement revealed the origin of Lili's name. About an hour and a half after the Sussexes' announcement, Clarence House and Kensington Palace issued congratulations.
There was so much controversy whether the Queen learned about the baby's birth ahead of the press and whether Harry and Meghan were given permission to use her childhood nickname for the baby.
An unnamed palace source who spoke to the BBC disputed that Harry asked The Queen about the name. However the Sussexes spokesperson told The BBC that they got permission from The Queen to use her nickname as the baby's name. It became a massive story which baffles us. The Sussexes were trying to be sweet and honor the Queen. I play a segment from Zoom where we wonder why The Queen didn't set the record straight about the name. The aides have put the Queen in an impossible position, when all they had to do is wish the baby health and happiness. The Daily Mail made the point that the BBC was right to report it as they did because they had good sources.
Meanwhile we got some very weird stories about how Lili was going to bring the royal family together. It was about trying to get the Sussexes to bring Lili to the UK so the royal press has stories. Richard Kay wrote that Lily could help Prince George secure the throne, which is ridiculous. Angela Levin wrote an oped for the Daily Telegraph saying that "Lilibet could yet prove herself to be a Band-Aid baby" for the royal family. While Levin may have meant that Lili would help heal rifts, a "band aid baby" is a baby meant to heal a relationship, and Levin was being shady. We're floored at how ridiculous the press is being about the baby's name. Chandra can't predict what the royal press will latch onto. It looks like we're seeing the decline of the royal family behind the scenes.
Duchess Meghan's children's book, The Bench, has come out and it's already a bestseller. I enjoyed reading it and think it's the kind of book you wouldn't mind reading over and over again. The negative reviews from the British press were gleeful and rude. I think it's cool that the book came out the week Meghan gave birth. Chandra says it was timed for Father's Day, which makes sense.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: Minutes 26:45 to 31 Jennifer Lopez is planning to move back to LA to be closer to Ben Affleck. We wonder how her 13-year-old twins feel about that and if they're ok with changing schools. Chandra thinks the kids might be ok with starting high school somewhere new. Marc Anthony put his Miami mansion on the market so he's probably fine with this. We hope Ben and J.Lo last for a while.
Comments of the week: Minutes 31 to end My comment of the week is from Inge on the post about Countess Sophie saying that people don't know Oprah outside of "chat shows."
Chandra's comment of the week is from Gobo on the post about William and Kate being sent to spend more time in Scotland.
Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction and Mare of Easttown (relatively spoiler free): Minutes 0 to 10:45 We'll have episodes for the next two weeks and will be off two weeks, on June 27th and the 4th of July. We both watched Mare of Easttown. I was surprised how much I like it since I don't normally like crime dramas. Chandra thought Kate did a great job but found her accent work inconsistent. We talk about our accents. I play a segment from Zoom where Ameerah, Lisa and Ashley talk about Mare of Easttown. We're glad that this series wasn't based on a book because the audience all experienced it together. This series reminded Chandra of The Killing except the showrunner screwed it up.
Royals: Minutes 10:45 to 34:30 We found The Me You Can't See powerful and liked how informative and realistic it was. It helped me confront some of my prejudices against people with mental illness. Chandra mentions the man at the end of the series who benefitted from LSD therapy. We talk about the formerly homeless woman Oprah mentored. We give Oprah credit for leaving that part in the show.
The royal commentators are using Harry's vulnerability to attack him. If Harry wasn't involved with this show not as many people would have watched it. Camila Tominey, who works for the Daily Telegraph, called Harry "smug" and "self pitying" and claimed his "spiteful rhetoric" was similar to Princess Diana's Bashir interview. Chandra says that the royal reporters are just going through the motions and that their reactions are rote.
We heard sourced reactions from Prince Charles, who is "boiling with anger" and "torturted by Harry's digs" supposedly. Prince William is "disappointed and greatly concerned" about Harry, and The Queen is "absolutely gobsmacked" and "deeply upset." Harry reportedly "lied" to The Queen about the subject of the show and told her it would be about veterans. It's possible he didn't update her when the focus changed. I play a segment from Zoom where Karen and Alnaaze talk about this. Chandra says that the British press didn't focus on Harry's quotes which were most damaging to the monarchy and press.
Kate and William also went on a royal tour in Scotland. They did a lot of fun activities like go-karting, visiting their alma mater and watching Cruella. Will looked miserable while Kate was doing all the emotional work of trying to look happy and engaged. The reason they went to Scotland is to discourage Scottish Independence from the UK, which could be up for vote in 2022. William had a secret meeting with former Prime Minister Gordon Brown in Edinburgh. The tour's purpose was obvious and the Scottish press blasted them.
We also got a bunch of embiggening pieces about Will and Kate. Katie Nichol called Kate "the "greatest asset" of the Royal family. Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith told Closer magazine that Kate is a "brilliant arbiter." I didn't realize that Kate's uncle thinks The Queen should step down so that William and Kate can rule, skipping Charles. William's PR is about how he's the future king doing it alone. We wonder why their messaging is so different.
We talked in episode 82 about how The Queen has the ability to vet bills before they're passed. It's called "The Queen's Consent." She used this to hide her wealth from the British public. Prince Charles abused this power to make it renters on his Duchy of Cornwall estate don't have the right to purchase their homes.
Buckingham Palace used this law to be exempt from the Equality Act, which prohibits discrimination in employment. The Palace refused to allow the government to certify the law before they were exempt from it, essentially holding it hostage. Buckingham Palace had explicit racist hiring tendencies up until the late 60s at the least. The Palace issued a statement claiming they comply with the Equality Act, however the fact that they worked to not be subject it shows otherwise. We wonder what happened with the "investigation" into Meghan allegedly bullying staffers. Chandra remembers the palace denying they were racist by claiming they asked the Queen's equerry, a Black man, to mentor Meghan. I mention when William denied he was racist by having his Black friend vouch for him.
Comments of the Week: Minutes 34:30 to end My comment of the week is from Gabby on Twitter on the story about how waking up earlier prevents depression. Chandra's comment of the week is from Merricat on the post about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez going to dinner. We hope Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck go to the Met Gala in September together. I remember the failed Love Don't Cost a Thing challenge that Jennifer tried to start.
Thanks for listening bitches!
Intro: Minutes 0 to 3:30 We'll be off Memorial Day weekend and will be back on June 6th. I've been hiking and really like it, but I like warmer weather. Chandra prefers walking when it's icy cold. I'm surprised I like hiking in the woods but I've really enjoyed it lately. (We recorded this Thursday before the quotes came out from The Me You Can't See.)
Royals: Minutes 3:30 to 20 On Wednesday Princess Beatrice announced that she is expecting her first child. She married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July of last year. She made the announcement on the third anniversary of Harry and Megan's wedding which was not a coincidence. The royal family didn't acknowledge the Sussexes' anniversary either.
We're still getting fallout from Prince Harry's interview on the Armchair Expert podcast. It's like the royal commenters didn't pay attention to anything he said. The controversy feels phoned in like they're trying to make something out of nothing. The worst criticism was from Camila Tominey who used Harry's vulnerability about seeking help as a way to call him damaged and say the Americans were exploiting him. Chandra said Tominey is mad because she's used to exploiting the royals and she doesn't have that access anymore. The palace and the press are trying to gatekeep how Harry talks about his mental health. It's also stigmatizing to people who seek help. I play a segment from Armchair Expert where Harry said that they would weaponize his vulnerability.
Chandra mentions the manufactured controversy over Harry's comments about the First Amendment. We found Dax Shephard and his podcast partner, Monica Padman, annoying. Chandra thinks Dax is trying to be like Howard Stern without the charisma. Dax kept interrupting Harry and bringing it around to himself. I thought that they should have cut a lot of the interview. We go on a tangent about Minari.
We got the first trailer for Oprah and Harry's Apple+ series, The Me You Can't See. The royal press freaked out ahead of time. They didn't want to talk about the substance of Harry's comments about his mother's death. A royal expert named Duncan Larcombe told Closer magazine that Harry wasn't really happy. He sounded like a jilted lover, like so many of the other royal commentators. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this.
Chandra says that, since the Armchair Expert podcast, the press has been focusing more on Harry instead of blaming Meghan for everything. Now that Harry is telling his truth the press's narrative, that Meghan forced Harry's hand, no longer has weight.
Meanwhile Kensington Palace's messaging has changed since Jason Knauf left as their communications head. Prince William is no longer angry at everything. A royal source told Page Six that "William is dreadfully hurt, he's an elegant man who lives for his job, his country and his family."
Bill and Melinda Gates's divorce: Minutes 20 to 25 Last week in episode 91 we wondered why Melinda was leaking all these stories about Bill. It sounded like she wanted to launch her own foundation and preserve her reputation. Since then we've heard that Bill would regularly proposition women who were his subordinates at Microsoft. In fact he got taken off the board at Microsoft around the year 2000 after having an affair with a staffer there. The timeline of the affair is when Melinda was having their kids so it does not look good for Bill. The NY Times took pains to say that Bill didn't retaliate against women at work who turned him down, but how do they know that?
Melinda also has hired trust and estate lawyers to represent her in the divorce, which may mean that she wants their three children to inherit more than just the ten million each that they were originally supposed to.
Comments of the Week: Minutes 25 to end My comment of the week is from Miranda on Oya's story about Shadow and Bone author, Leigh Bardugo, saying that people sneer at the things that women love. We think sports is just gossip for men. Here's a link to the article Chandra mentioned where Harry Styles said he loved having young female fans.
Chandra's comment of the week is from HeatherC about the fug dress Duchess Kate wore to the Victoria & Albert museum. We wonder if Kate's stylist is trolling her.
The Cambridges will be traveling to Scotland. I thought that Chandra was joking in that post that they were going to watch Cruella and go to a football/soccer game, but that's really what they're doing.
Thanks for listening bitches!
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 5:00 I've been watching Debris on NBC and Chandra is watching Mare of Easttown on HBO.
Royals: Minutes 5:00 to 15:00 Jason Knauf, the communications director for the Cambridges, is stepping down at the end of the year. This is happening after Meghan won her lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday and Jason denied that he had any copyright to the letter. Chandra points out that this is sketchy because someone must have told The Mail on Sunday that Meghan wasn't the only author. Chandra is glad he's leaving because he was awful. I play a segment from Zoom where Karen, Courtney and Ameerah talk about this. Chandra says that Jason has been with The Cambridges since 2015 and is complicit in their schemes. The crisis managers started on May first and Jason announced his resignation on May 12, not even two weeks later.
Will and Kate visited a children's wellness center in Wolverhampton to highlight Mental Health Awareness Month. We assume they took the helicopter The Queen gave them.
Prince Harry also visited the Armchair Expert podcast to talk about his life and his mental health. The difference between the work The Cambridges and The Sussexes do on this issue is stark. I play a segment where Harry talks about meeting up with Meghan. You can tell that Harry and Meghan are doing so much better in the states. We so admire how Harry speaks his truth. The British press and The Windsors are mad that Harry is the one who decided to leave The Royals and that Harry and Meghan are thriving.
Bill and Melinda Gates: Minutes 15:00 to 19:30 Bill and Melinda Gates announced their divorce last week. Bill transferred $1.8 billion in stock to Melinda a day before the announcement. At first it sounded like they just grew apart or got annoyed with each other. We thought this would be civil and remain private, but it got messy fast. People magazine had plenty of insider stories, unlike Jeff Bezos's divorce. We heard that Bill had an annual long weekend trip scheduled with his ex girlfriend, and that Melinda has been thinking of divorcing him for years, particularly because of his friendship with Epstein. They were just "limping along" in their marriage until their last child graduated from high school.
We wonder why they stayed together so long when they're that astronomically rich. Melinda is trying to get sympathy by leaking these stories, we think because she's trying to start her own foundation. We admire how low key MacKenzie Scott was.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Lopez: Minutes 19:30 to 27:30 People are getting sick of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck already but we want them to last through the summer. We also want them to do a pap stroll! Jennifer and Ben went on vacation to Montana together for a week. We heard that Ben started emailing Jennifer in February, when he had split from Ana de Armas but Jen was still with A-Rod! The stories about A.Rod's thing with Madison LeCroy broke around then so Ben probably read about that and pounced. That was likely a turning point for Jennifer in that relationship.
People Magazine has a bunch of stories about Ben and Jen. Jennifer is "open to a relationship" with Ben and "she wants to spend as much time with Ben as possible to see where this could go." Chandra loves this old school PR and I think it looks a little desperate from Jennifer. Chandra tells me not to worry because Jen went down to Miami to get some space. I play a segment from Zoom where Ameerah and Tanisha point out that A-Rod, J-Lo and Ben are all Leos! Ashley says that celebrities are often Leos and Capricorns. Chandra says they're all peak Leos and mentions that Duchess Meghan, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are Leos. Chandra is a Virgo like Beyonce and Hugh Grant.
Comments of the Week: Minutes 27:30 to 30 My comments of the week are from MissMarirose and Jamie on the post about people wearing masks because they like being anonymous and not getting attention. Chandra's comment of the week is from JennyJazzhands on the post about Tristan Thompson's side chick, Sydney Chase, hiring Gloria Allred.

Introduction: Minutes 0 to 4:45 I got my son a used car. The dealer told me supply was low due to the pandemic, which seems to be true. I was glad to buy him a clean car that didn't smell funky.
Royals: Minutes 4:45 to 19:15 While we were off the Cambridges celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and released cheesy anniversary portraits. We also got the typical stories embiggening Kate. Royal experts gave quotes that she was "revolutionising the royal social media game" and filling "the void" left by Harry and Meghan. Her uncle also said that Kate would be a great queen and that Charles shouldn't be king before William. I play a segment from Zoom where we wonder what Kate does all day.
William has been tagging along on Kate's events except for going to a football club. Will and Kate visited a working farm together where they sat on opposite sides of a hay bale. I remember when they sat on opposite sides of a couch. Will and Kate also started a YouTube channel with a half minute video set to weird music. Chandra says it shows how out of touch they are. They're embracing a conservative Victorian lifestyle.
Dan Wootton has been doing these very weird pieces about the Cambridges in the Daily Mail. He wrote that they won't divorce and will stay together "as long as they are both alive." We remember the creepy open letter Wootton wrote to Prince William. Another royal commentator wrote Kate is "the antithesis of Meghan. She is in it for the long game, she does not expect any immediate reward." If that's the case, what about all the expensive jewelry and clothing she buys?
Meanwhile the Sussexes keep working. They co-chaired the Vax Live concert and Harry spoke to a crowd of vaccinated frontline workers in a pre-taped event. Duchess Meghan wrote a children's book! It's called The Bench and is about the relationship between fathers and sons. We appreciate how Meghan doesn't make announcements until her projects are done. Piers Morgan complained that Meghan shouldn't write about fathers when her own dad is awful, basically, as if it's her fault he's like that. I play a segment from Zoom where April, Michelle, Ameerah, Karen, Tanisha and Sara talk about this.
Meghan won another part of her lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday for publishing her father's letter. They ruled that she owns the copyright to that letter she sent to her father which the DM published. She won the major part of her lawsuit in February. The DM just keeps trashing Meghan despite the fact that she won against them in court.
All the royal Instagram accounts posted happy birthday to Archie on his second birthday. Prince Charles got some pushback for not posting happy birthday to his other grandchildren. We also got a cute new photo of Archie from behind, posted on the Archewell website.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: Minutes 19:15 to 25 Ben Affleck was seen in Jennifer Lopez's white escalade getting a ride to her house a couple of times. We know they're together because they blanketed the press about how they're "just friends." Jennifer sang "Sweet Caroline" at the Vax Live concert and it was a nod to Ben as it's the Red Sox song. It's also a jab at A-Rod because he played for the Yankees. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this. This is for Jennifer's ego and Ben is game. We wonder if Ben has ever been happy in a long term relationship.
Right around the time we heard about Ben and Jen, a standup comic and TikToker shared a video Ben sent her on Instagram. Apparently she had unmatched him on Raya because she didn't believe it was him. We thought it was creepy at first but then when the woman explained that Ben was just verifying that it was him it didn't sound as bad.
Comments of the Week: Minutes 25 to My comments of the week are from Staci on Twitter and from Lady Elaine on the post about what Victoria Beckham should do with her kids' baby teeth. Chandra's comments of the week are from Becks1 and Monica on the post about Prince William visiting a football club. I wonder what happened with the big project Kate was supposed to announce.
