  • Talk the Talk, and Walk the Walk

Talk the Talk, and Walk the Walk

When many people think of a "brand," they view it as a mere marketing tool—a mechanism to attract customers and boost sales. This perspective, however, is too superficial. In reality, a brand is a belief, the transference of a core philosophy, and the ultimate embodiment of an enterprise's or an individual's culture.

Whenever we assist clients in establishing their Corporate Identity System (CIS), we stress one core concept: A brand should be more than surface-level efforts, and it should never be just talk. A truly powerful brand must be a cultural belief, meticulously built from the inside out. This isn't merely a slogan; it's the DNA that permeates all organizational actions.

To forge a brand that withstands the test of time and successfully generates enduring word-of-mouth, we adhere to the BBB Framework (BLACK Frames Three-Act Brand Building Framework) —an essential, tripod-like structure where no part can stand without the others:

  • Do You Even Know How to Chat?

Do You Even Know How to Chat?

Being articulate doesn't always translate into being likable. Sometimes, an eager and constant stream of talk can be easily perceived as verbose, domineering, or even arbitrary. When we rush to state our own viewpoints, we often neglect the very essence of communication.

Communication is a two-way street. It requires interaction to reach a consensus and eventually to solve a problem. In modern professional and personal relationships, we are no longer just seeking the transfer of information; more crucially, we seek the exchange and resonance of Emotional Value.

In this process, the ability to ask questions is vital, as it guides the other person to articulate their true difficulties and feelings. However, there's a trap: if you merely finish asking a pre-prepared "questionnaire" and forget to truly listen and discuss in depth, it ceases to be communication and becomes an interrogation. This one-way output makes the other party uncomfortable and feel unimportant.

  • The Colors of Human Nature: Communication Wisdom from Surrounded by Idiots

    The Colors of Human Nature:
Communication Wisdom from Surrounded by Idiots

Thomas Erikson's bestseller, Surrounded by Idiots, offers a straightforward framework for understanding interpersonal dynamics. Using the DISC model (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Conscientiousness), the book categorizes human behavior into four fundamental colors: Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue. The core message is not to label anyone as an "idiot," but to realize that when people's behaviors diverge from our expectations, it's usually not out of malice, but because they are "speaking a different language."

The value of this book is not to label and judge others. This categorization serves merely as a tool for us to identify different people's communication preferences and needs.

In reality, everyone is a mixture of these colors, with one being more prominent. An effective communicator acts like a chameleon, adjusting their expression style and pace of message reception to match the other person's preferred color. We cannot improve if we attribute communication failures to the belief that "my method is fine; the other person just doesn't understand." Only by grasping these four primary colors can we learn to communicate differently with different people, leading to efficient collaboration at work and deeper connections in life, ultimately achieving the best possible communication results.

Before You Speak, Take a Look in the Mirror!

Since childhood, we are often told, "Appearance doesn't matter; what's inside counts!" While well-intentioned, promoting inner virtues, this adage is often misunderstood in the context of modern communication. The "appearance" we speak of is not about inherent beauty or physique; it is about the image we choose to present to the world, serving as the most direct and honest form of nonverbal communication.
