The National Population and Housing Census has been extended to ensure that all households and businesses are enumerated. The census has been completed in Soufriere and is nearing completion in Dennery, Micoud, and Vieux-Fort. Focus now shifts to those districts that are lagging a bit.

The World Health Organization (WHO), in 2020 reported that 1 in every 6 deaths, or 10 million deaths worldwide, were the result of cancer. Globally, cancer is the second leading cause of death.
The latest report from the National Epidemiology Department indicates that for both male and female, cancer is the second most common cause of death in Saint Lucia. Prostate, breast, lung, colon, cervix, endometrium, stomach and ovarian cancer are among the top ten cancers that contributed to deaths in Saint Lucia over the last five years.
