The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed the Independence Standing Committee (ISC) to plan the calendar of activities for the 43rd Independence Anniversary of Saint Lucia which will be observed on 22nd February 2022.
The Cabinet of Ministers in collaboration with, the Independence Standing Committee has agreed on the Independence 43 theme: “Douvan Ansanm – Celebrating Our People”.
The Committee will launch the national calendar of activities in the coming weeks and encourages the public to subscribe to its social media pages for regular updates, Instagram and Facebook: Saint Lucia Independence - @758independence or email the committee at [email protected] with any queries or concerns.

School specific guidance includes the following important measures:
- Support your child psychologically, by providing information and daily re-assurance
- Cooperate and work closely with the class teacher on various safety measures put in place to keep your child safe
- If you or your child develops respiratory symptoms, seek medical care and do not send the child to school.
- Ensure children are provided with clean face masks daily for school and when in public places
- Ensure regular cleaning of surfaces and sanitation of all schools and environments
- Ensure your child remains in quarantine or isolation if they were a direct contact of a case or a member of your household is positive
- Limit social activities at schools and socialization after school in groups - Encourage vaccination of children 12-17 years old, teachers and school support staff.
Acting on the advice of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, the Acting Governor General, H.E. Cyril E.M. Charles has appointed Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire as the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia.
Hon. Dr. Hilaire served as Saint Lucia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland and as Saint Lucia’s Ambassador to France. He was also accredited to numerous international organisations headquartered in Europe from 2011-2016.
Hon. Dr. Hilaire contested the General Elections of June 6th, 2016 in which the Saint Lucia Labour Party formed the Opposition and was elected as the Member of Parliament for Castries South. He was subsequently re-elected on July 26th, 2021, and is currently the Minister with responsibility for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture, and Information.
Hon. Dr. Hilaire welcomes his elevation to the position and pledges to discharge his duties to the best of his ability.
Le Ministère de la Santé a noté une augmentation des cas de COVID-19. Après consultations, le Cabinet a décidé de nouveaux protocoles, du Vendredi, 7 Janvier au Vendredi, 4 Février 2022.
Cabinet has decided on the following protocols for the period Friday January 7, 2022 to Friday February 4, 2022.
Confinement to residence during the week from Mondays to Thursdays will commence at 10 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays confinement will commence at 9 pm and on Sundays confinement will be at 6 pm.
Educational institutions will continue to operate on a face to face basis and follow the COVID- 19 protocols. The Ministry of Education will continue to provide more information to the public.
Additionally as of Monday January 10, 2022 public omnibuses should not be loaded with more than 10 passengers.
The public is reminded that mass crowd events, competitive or high contact sporting activity, including indoor and outdoor training and local competitions are not allowed at this time, however; a person can host or attend a social event or recreational activity that does not exceed 35 persons of his or her immediate family at his or her residence.
1. In accordance with the Criminal Code Cap, 3.01 no loud music will be permitted at a social event or recreational activity. 2. A faith-based organization may hold a special religious ceremony including baptisms, weddings, and funerals only if there are no more than 100 people in attendance and providing also that physical distancing guidelines are strictly observed. 3. Beach picnics, river parties and other public celebrations will not be allowed. These adjustments to the current protocols will be in place up to February 4, 2022.
