Have you ever said -If the Lord wills, I'll be there-- Well, that is the spirit with which we should live our entire lives. We will find that James- next jab is at the overconfident spirit that says will proceed with plans with no thought for God or His desires. Tomorrow we examine this well-known rebuke for overconfidence.----The theme for our worship service encourages us to rest in the Lord and His knowledge and care of our future. -Trust in the Lord and He will direct your paths--

So much damage is done through slander. This judgmental spirit that causes someone to come to a negative conclusion about someone else, and then pass it along behind there back is very dangerous. And yet, believe it or not, this actually happened in the early church. That is why James had to confront them to overcome slander. ----In this message, we examine this confrontation and also the way to overcome slander through our faith. In the worship service we meditate on the fact that God is the perfect Judge and we should leave judgment to Him.

James offers a serious rebuke as he compares love of the world with spiritual adultery. This Sunday, we finish examining this text and follow how James communicates the steps to overcome this temptation.

Overcoming Worldliness----The draw of the world upon our hearts is very strong. And yet it is possible to have a life that does not follow the world and its allure. This is the next theme the Lord encourages us to tackle in the book of James -see text and questions below-.----A whole-hearted devotion to God is something that God demands of His children because He loves us and is jealous of our single minded attention. No one enjoys conflict. We strive to be at peace with one another. This is the next topic that James handles in order to demonstrate how -Faith Works- even in overcoming conflict.----James 4-1-3 -What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you- Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members- You lust and do not have- so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain- so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.-
