In times of stress and trouble in life, it is helpful to gaze on the blessings of a greater future. The Lord does this for Israel through Isaiah. In a time-period of great pressure and uncertainty, God gave promises of future spiritual blessing. Isaiah 9 gives that blessing and it is just as encouraging for us today- It is the blessing of Emmanuel, God-s promised Child, Who will bring peace and joy to the earth.----In this sermon we survey the Isaiah Chapters 1-12 as well as the four names given of promise in chapters 7-12, and the joy that we receive from depending on Emmanuel.

The prophet Isaiah had a long and illustrious career as a prophet in Israel. Many of its passages speak so clearly of Christ that we could mistake it for a New Testament book. In this message we survey the primary content and message of Isaiah.

Life is hard. But we tend to make it harder. We grow distracted and restless. Our relationship with God is threatened by sin, empty thrills, or even good things. How does God respond to us in those times- And what should we learn from others who have stumbled ahead of us- This Sunday we finish our survey of the patriarchs by considering the journey of Jacob. In Jacob, we see a realistic picture of life on a sin-filled, sin-cursed world. And we also see the God of Jacob, the faithful Shepherd, the true hero of our faith.

What we know about humanity is rooted in the book of Genesis. Let's take a look at God's perception of humanity.

Few factors shape our worldview more than the creation of heaven and earth. Shape your view of your surroundings on this foundational biblical teaching.

It is so encouraging to know that God keeps His promises and as we walk through a study of the Patriarchs, our hearts are spurred to trust God even more. This is the theme for our worship service tomorrow. Please be ready to worship the Lord together as we consider God's promises fulfilled in the life of Isaac.

July 4th marks the anniversary of America-s birth, a chance to thank God for our freedoms and the founding fathers who helped to ensure those freedoms. Even more importantly, we can praise God for Abraham, the first patriarch and a clear example of faith. And like Abraham, we can believe God-s promises for ourselves.
