The Sermon on the Mount is the proclamation of the King concerning His kingdom. The Lord is teaching His disciples (5:2). This is a sermon directed to the saved for all the world to hear. The beatitudes (Blessed’s) give the inner character of the heirs who enter the Kingdom.
“Blessed” – What this world cannot do: Give Holy Peace.
“Are” – What the world cannot do: Give Holy Purpose.
“The Poor” – What the world will never understand: Repentance.
“In Spirit” – What the world cannot see: Reality.
“For Theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” – What is better than all the world: Relationship.
