Matthew 1:24-25:

When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

He obeyed. He went out on the limb. It might not have made sense on the surface, but Joseph's trust in God went beyond his pride, doubt and fear. Joseph took the next step to which he was called. The rest of the story is history. In fact, it's your story and mine. The engagement stayed. The marriage happened. There was a stable. An inn. A manger. A baby. Jesus. The only one who could save us from our sins.

Our life was forever changed because Joseph obeyed. Whose life could be changed if you obeyed God and took your next step?

What is my next step? Why haven't I taken it? Will it be God's will or mine?

In this message, we look at the unusual approach of the Messiah's birth and the prophecies that led to it and how we can apply this to our lives today.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the earth

Not a person imagined such a powerful birth.

A Messiah is coming, the prophets had spoken

But we didn’t get it, didn’t know we were broken

The surroundings so simple, a stable so plain

Here hope was delivered, soon ending sin’s reign.

"Jesus is the reason for Christmas season" doesn't really make a lot of sense does it? Jesus came for a reason. It wasn't to have a day or season remembered in His honor. In this message, we explore the true reason for the season.

Don't quit living. Do't give up. Don't sit on the couch eating Ben and Jerry's ice cream with Dorito dust on your fingers. Stay engaged. Just because you don't see the big picture doesn't mean you stop existing. Though God may allow bad times to happen, He's still in charge. He's sovereign. That simply means that He rules. That He is in control. Nothing happens that He doesn't allow.

For many of us on Election Day, we saw our confidence solidified, shaken, destroyed, or any other number of descriptors. Today we study the importance of where we should actually be placing our confidence.
