What does the future hold for Christians- Last time, we began looking at the marks of a faithful church. Because Philadelphia was such a faithful church, the promises are more clearly seen here. Even so, these promises are for all of God's people.

It seems like marriage is under attack like never before. Still, hasn't marriage always had problems- In this passage, we begin looking at the root of marital strife --- sin and the curse it brings, We also consider one half of how the Bible corrects our marriages, and that is the disposition of the wife. Next week, we'll consider what Scripture has to say to husbands -even introducing that a bit this week-.

We remember the church in Philadelphia as being a faithful church, but what made it so- In this sermon, we begin looking at this question so we can also be a faithful.

What does it look like to be filled with the Holy Spirit- While many look for spectacular manifestations, the Spirit here records five words that describe the normal experience. We can sum up the consequences of the Spirit's filling into four thoughts- Those filled with the Spirit communicate it with one another -v. 19a-, sing to the Lord -v. 19b-, thank the Lord -v. 20-, and submit to one another -v. 21-.

What does it mean to be -filled- with the Holy Spirit- There are a number of answers to this question, but it seems none of them fits the biblical text. Today, we're considering the broad command to be filled with the Holy Spirit and how it fits within the context of Ephesians 5 and the general framework of the gospel.

What are the marks of a dead or dying church- Is it lackluster music, dwindling membership, or absence of programs- In this letter, our Lord identifies a dead church, but this one has a reputation for life. Even so, it has hope, should it repent.
