We seem to fear understanding God, lest we -put God in a box.- Yet, He's revealed Himself in His Word for us to know Him. Creeds help us define what we know about Him in Scripture, so let's examine what it means to say, --I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.-

How can we hope to stand against the schemes of the devil- Last time, we read about needing to be strong in the Lord and putting on His armor. This week, we look at the armor He provides to fortify us for the battle ahead.

If we were taken before the heavenly throne tonight, what might we see- In this vision, John describes the indescribable. We don't want to rush through it, so let's just look at the elements of the first few verses.

What is the nature of true spiritual warfare, and how might we hope to fight it- Approaching this passage from the vantage point of battle, we note the preparation for our battle -v. 10-11a-, the enemy we battle -v. 11b-, and the arena of our battle -v. 12-. What on earth -or in heaven- is happening to John in this passage- Some Bible teachers believe that John -and, by extension, the church- is experiencing an event called the pre-tribulational rapture in this text. Are they right, and why does this question even exist-

We're reading a few words in this passage that gives our current world pause. Even though we're done away with the institution of slavery in our current culture, the terms -slave- and -master- here still have application today, in how the Holy Spirit fills the employee-employer relationship. So, like with the previous relationships -wives-husbands, children-parents-, we can divide this section in two. We see that the Spirit calls slaves to submit -vv. 5-8-, but we also see that He calls masters to submit -v. 9-.
