It's not too hard to find someone who claims to commmunicate with the spirits. These spirits either help or hinder you; can provide guidence; are a passage between you and your dead relatives; and can even predict the future. However this is nothing compared to what the Spirit of God is doing in you.

Spirituality is a popular concept in the modern world - many people flock to the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival every year. The bible promises that God gives a Spirit to all who follow Jesus; but what exactly is that Spirit like? And why does God give Him?

Jesus parable of the vineyard owner has the Pharisees in mind who are tasked with the responsibility of bringing about true and lasting faith. Instead they have rejected the landowner and taken the produce of the vineyard for themselves. When the Son of God comes they will even kill him; an anticipation of Jesus death at their hands. But they fail to understand the nature of the landowner – he will destroy those tenants for he is angry at their treatment of him. He will instead give the farm to those who will produce the fruit. God here anticipates the responsibility for producing faith is given to the leaders of the church; and he expects fruit. Those entrusted with such responsibility must be careful not to make the same mistake.

The King arrives in his city as was fortold; but what sort of king will he be. Jesus makes it clear that he is the king who brings peace who has come not to be served but to serve.

This message was given at Grace Christian Community at the celebration of the 2nd birthday of the church. Jesus, in the parable of the 2 sons, invites us to ask ourselves whether we know God at all and understand his heart for the world.

In this passage from Exodus we see God motivated by the pursuit of his glory and fame. His motivation means terrible justice for Egypt but salvation for the people he has chosen to set his name upon.

Ever suffered an identity crisis? Ever asked "who am I"?

Despite God unleashing his plagues on Egypt Pharaoh still refuses to let the Israelite people leave. So God has one final plague to unleash on Egypt, one which is nearly incomprehensible in its devistation.

And yet we see in this event God sowing the seed amongst his people of what he does and how he does it which will come to define the identity of Gods people and prepare them for what He will do in the future.
