We have a saying "it's not what you know but who you know that matters".

In this passage of Exodus war is finally declared. God unleashes his plagues on Egypt, and Pharaoh is helpless in the face of them - for God is pulling his strings as well!

We meet a soverign God who will not be defeated and who will be known by friend and foe alike.

An Ancient Game of Thrones emerges. The players: Yahweh vs Pharaoh.

Both claim to be kings, both claim to be divine, and both claim the Israelite people as their own. One is a mighty king with one of the greatest armies of the ancient world. The other, is a God who hasnt revealed himself to Israel for generations.

In an age like ours where God is challenged, who really runs our world?

Who is God? What is he like? What is his name?

In these chapters of Exodus God reveals his name to Moses. A name which He is to be known as for all generations. For he will no longer be the God who promises but the God who saves. He is who he is - and his people must know him to be able to trust him.

Do you know God?

What might make you trust God? Really trust God.

For Israel, slaves in a land that is not their own, this is the question they wrestle with. Will they trust a God they have never known or heard from in many years. A God who makes promises.

Will you be willing to trust this God too?
