Did Jesus really need to die and bear God’s wrath at the sin of the world? Was there another way to cover for the sin of the world? That was what Jesus was wrestling with in the garden of Gethsemane and the answer from the Father is very clear.

Life is full of sorrow now, but Jesus shows us that because of his second coming, there is celebration to come, and eager waiting in the meantime.

Jesus does not tell us when He will return, but gives signs of His return. Jesus tells us to be ready, alert and watchful.

This passage can lead to a lot of speculation and fear. In Matthew 24, Jesus wants us to be encouraged and challenged by what we know to be true about the future and about himself.

The grace of God is amazing, but for those who feel entitled to it, it can be infuriating as we see from Matthew in chapters 19 and 20. It is one thing to accept that we don’t deserve God’s grace and another thing to believe that He gives it anyway.
