The values of Grace Church are about what we believe and how it shapes who we are. Moreover, we aspire to ensure that our values are gospel-shaped. It is only because of the gospel that we have anything and because we have this gospel, the world needs us.

Jesus taught this parable to encourage us to evaluate our heart. He challenges our thoughts and the ways we are tempted to approach God with our good works. Instead, we find freedom when we humble ourselves and acknowledge Jesus has made us righteous.

Jesus tells a story about a man who was so 'good' that he thought he was better than others, and a man who was wretched but came humbly before God. This parable shows us that God wants our humility and acknowledgement that above all what we need is Him.

There are two characters in this parable with very different heart attitudes towards God. One prays with pride and the other with humilty. But what is God's heart towards those who call to Him and how does He want to change our hearts?
