Words have incredible power to harm or to heal. Nowhere in history has this been more true than in the life-giving, inherently powerful words of Jesus.

When Jesus returned to his hometown as an adult, he puts everyone on notice that his life's mission is to launch a revolution of grace. And the townsfolk turn on him, even to the point of trying to kill him. What's going on here?

We've often heard the story of Jesus' temptation as if the point is how we can overcome temptation in our lives. While the story does show us that, the real significance of the story lies not in what we can do but in what Christ did for us.

Anyone can say they're sorry and feel bad about their sin. But what is real repentance? How can you know if you're serious about repenting? And where does the ability to repent like that come from in the first place?

As much as Jesus amazes and astonishes us, he also confuses and perplexes us. His life leaves unanswered questions in our minds. How do we handle these situations where Jesus confounds us on either a theological or personal level?

When his parents took him up to the temple at just 40 days old, Jesus was recognized as the Messiah by two older saints. What did Simeon and Anna see in Jesus? And how were they able to see that in the face of a baby?

It's easily the best known and most popular story in the Bible: The Nativity, The Christmas Story. We're so familiar with the details. But how well do we really know the story? How well do we really understand its purpose and place in our lives?

What is the purpose or point of your salvation? What ultimate end did God have in mind when He sent His Son to die for your sins? And how are you living for that purpose today?
