The most natural and normal habit of someone who has a personal relationship with Jesus is hearing and being led by his voice. Jesus said, “I know my sheep, and they know my voice.” Unfortunately, though, we are at a point where we have become deaf to his voice, because of all the other voices out there: the voice of the world, the enemy, teachers, social media influencers, and even ourselves. It is time to silence the noise and tune in to the voice of God that’s all around us, but with all the voices that are out there today how can we actually know that the voice we are hearing is God’s. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that our world is divided. From our government to our educational system, to state lines, to our schools, to families, to relationships, to race, religious beliefs, to sexual orientation, and even the way we were raised — division is the ruler of the day, and it is this disease that is pulling us farther and farther away from the unity and oneness that Jesus envisioned the church to be. Our divided world is in desperate need of a united church. But how do we get there? How do we become the church (and even the people) that Jesus envisioned? How do we actually live at peace with people who look, act, talk, and believe differently than us? How can we actually live in unity, in the midst of all the diversity? Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ we have the ultimate victory; however, everyday is still a battle. The truth for all of us is that while the victory is WON, the battle isn’t DONE. In other words, the enemy is defeated, but he ain’t dead. Here’s the truth, the enemy is currently scheming and launching an individualized attack on everyone of us as followers of Christ. The only question we have to wrestle with then, is whether or not we will put up a fight.
