Saul’s spear represents the weapons that may be used against us by the enemy. However, those weapons are powerless and useless to cause any lasting damage to us. Why is that? Because God uses the weapons of our enemies for our good and his ultimate purpose. Therefore let us not stare in fear at the weapons of the enemy but let us look with confidence to our Savior who delivers us.

God promised that David’s house would rule for all time. The New Testament makes it clear that Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise and that He is the son of David and the King of Kings. How we respond to him literally makes all the difference in the world.

The most natural reaction to being wronged by someone is to get them back. Our human desire is to make them pay for what they’ve done to us. For those of us who have bowed the knee to Christ and have surrendered all rights to him, our response should be different. Rather than trying to avenge ourselves we should entrust the ones who wronged us into the hands of God knowing that He will work perfect justice.
