The Kingdom, Power and Glory - We conclude our "Lord, Teach Us To Pray" series today with the lovely doxology from the Lord's (model) Prayer.

As long as we have unconfessed sins in our lives, we will lose fullness of joy and intimacy in our communion with God. Thus the petition, Forgive us our debts is simply our pleading to God to cleanse us moment by moment when we confess our sins to Him. Evidence that we are Forgiven is that we are Forgiving!

We are needy; God is the provider. The Father cares not only for great things, such as advancing his kingdom in the world, but also for small things, such as feeding his children. Further, Jesus shows us that all of life must be lived before the face of God. Our lives are not divided between spiritual activities and earthly activities.

Up to this point, the prayer has been all about God. We have prayed for Gods name, Gods kingdom, and Gods will. But from this point on we will pray for ourselvesour provision, our pardon, and our protection. It is the third petition that brings the Lords Prayer down to earth, making the transition from our Father up in heaven to his children down on earth.
