Psalm 96 celebrates the global reign of God. But do we really see and feel like God is reigning right now? Why and how should we sing these truths today?

No one can choose the family we're born into. As with our earthly family, our spiritual family has a history. When it's our turn to write our part of the family story, what legacy will we leave for those who come after?

When tough decisions come, it matters if you're all-in. Joshua's final appeal to the people of Israel is this: be all-in on serving God. And make that decision today.

Are you discouraged by your lack of fruitfulness in living for God's mission? Or are you discouraged by your lack of desire for fruitfulness for God's mission? Jesus teaches us how to increase our hunger for the harvest for which God has made us.

God's plan for His children is to make them like Jesus, and He uses all things (even trials and suffering) to achieve this plan. In light of this, the apostle Paul wanted his readers to be assured of God's love even in the midst of hardship. If His love provided for our greatest need (our salvation), then we can trust Him regardless of what we face.

It's good to want to keep the faith. It's another thing to know how. As Joshua passes along the responsibilities of leadership to the new generation he wants to make sure they know how to be faithful.

This encounter on the road to Emmaus points us to the reality of how we ought to be living our lives as believers and the certainty that we should have about Jesus walking with us and speaking to us on our journey. These disciples needed to be assured of the presence and finished work of Jesus, and so do we.

We are painfully aware of how prone we are to wander, and the people of Israel were no different. As the people prepare to start living in the land they have possessed, the question that arises is no longer whether God will be faithful to them, but whether they will remain faithful to God. This is a concern we share with the Israelites, and one that Joshua 22 addresses in our hearts.

Not many of us would say we doubt God's faithfulness. But when push comes to shove, we fear the future, are anxious about the unknown, and worry about what we can't control. Has God forgotten us? Will he bring justice? Will he use us for good in this world? Joshua 20-21 says he is faithful, and he will do all that he has promised.
