We pour so much time, energy, effort, and resources into seeking that which will satisfy us. We travel the world, look for love, climb the corporate ladder – all in search of lasting fulfillment. None of these are evil pursuits in and of themselves. In fact, they can be quite noble. We can travel to grow our appreciation for nature and culture. We can look for love in order give ourselves away, to know and be known. We can work hard for financial stability and responsibility to care for the ones we love. But even the noblest of pursuits can divert our gaze from that which our souls really and truly need: God the Father in his Son, Jesus, who gives himself through his Spirit. May you, today, look to Christ as your highest joy, your most valued prize, and your most precious treasure. In Him alone will you find what your heart has so desperately been searching for: life.
