Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world! And so we arrive at Palm Sunday. The hands that waved palm fronds in homage to Jesus would only a week later become fists angrily shaking in support of his denouncement by crucifixion.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Don't ignore the pain and jump straight to Sunday. God didn't. Come remember the history of Jesus' betrayal, abandonment, and agony. The sermon will end leaving you feeling unfinished...because the story isn't over til Easter Sunday.

If Jesus didn't rise from the dead, there would be no Christian faith, no gospel, no good news. But He did rise. And because of it, God's Kingdom is alive and at hand for all who believe.

No one expected Jesus to be resurrected. Fear is the first and most consistent reaction of the disciples. Alarmed. Startled and frightened. They were not prepared for a dead man walking.

The presence of doubt in a world of certainty is part of the human condition. Thomas had his doubts. He insisted upon physical proof. Jesus gave it. Why is there no benefit for doubt in the Church today?

Six of the disciples decide to join Peter on a spontaneous fishing trip. Their intent seems to be passing the time. They’ve had two encounters with the risen Christ already. Who knows if there will be another?

The biggest obstacle in living the resurrection life is to believe you are dead. Life feels like a tomb with a big, heavy rock blocking the exit. The only one who can save you is a dead man walking, the one who’s already rolled back the stone.

Beginning to our new sermon series through the Book of ACTS. Written by Luke, almost as a sequel to his Gospel account, to show the Resurrection of Jesus is not the end of the story, but just the beginning.

And so our life in Christ begins and is often marked by waiting. Jesus commands those who follow him, those whom he sends out into the world, to wait for the filling of the Holy Spirit. How do you fare when God tells you to wait?
