We are bombarded on a regular basis to pursue "the good life." This sometimes leads to us selling our souls in order to achieve success. Jesus describes God's picture of "the good life" as presented in the Sermon on the Mount.

A table. Bread. A plate. Wine. A cup. With these simple and everyday elements, Jesus gave us a meal. Eucharist. The Love Feast. The Breaking of Bread. The Lord’s Supper. Each name highlights a distinct aspect of this meal that Jesus gave us.

Pastor Dale Johnson. Down through the years the Christian Church has developed creeds and confessions regarding what scripture teaches on a number of topics. Are creeds and confessions important today?

Sabbath. It is God’s gift and God’s command. To stop. To enter into a space for rest and worship. To trust God that “all will be well.” Sabbath may appear to be a daunting task but as a historic part of faith, God promises peace to those who embrace it.

A body that does not grow will die. Our primary vocation as the church is to be witnesses of the Kingdom of God. By definition, a witness requires an audience. To be an effective witness one must listen and engage others.

Our focus during these weeks of Lent we will be to meditate on the last things that Jesus had to say before he died. You learn about a person by what one says in the face of his or her own mortality. How we face death sums up how we have faced life.

Where do you draw that line in the sand between those who are in and those who are not, between “the saved” and “the unsaved?” As Lutherans, we herald salvation by faith through grace alone. But where do we draw the line of faith?

Life at the crossroads; life in transition…the operative and dreaded word is CHANGE. But who or what drives the change in our lives? How do we know when we stand at the crossroads? Where are we to look when trying to decide which path to take?

As we look together at Luke 5:33–39, we will discover that reformation didn’t begin with the proposals of Martin Luther, it began with the revelation of the Gospel.

October 31st is All Hallows Eve or All Saints Day—the Church’s memorial day as we remember those who have gone before in the faith of Jesus Christ.
