50 years ago Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. asked 'How long' until there would be reconciliation? A year ago people in Ferguson, Missouri asked, 'Will there be reconciliation?' As we continue to hear tragedy after tragedy in the news, it has caused many of us to look at the world around us, our relationships and our lives. Forcing us to ask "Will there be reconciliation?" and "How long?" Join us as we wrestle with these questions through the lens of the story of Joseph and his brothers in Genesis 42.

One of the recurring themes in humanity is the discovery of how great an illusion our power really is. Powerful companies like Lehman Brothers go bankrupt. Powerful athletes eventually weaken and lose their skills. Many have watched the sad decline of parents who were intelligent and quick witted, as they succumb to dementia or simple old age. Even superman stumbled before cryptonite! No matter how powerful we may think ourselves to be, even when we are in our “prime,” we encounter situations that reveal our helplessness and frailty. But these moments are not intrusions into the "normal" order. They are quick peaks into truth. These moments of felt weakness are moments of sanity. These times in which we sense our vulnerability and frailty are not a dream, they are like waking up from the dream of our self-sufficiency and power to the reality of our situation. But what are we to make of these moments? What are we to do with this? Listen in as we consider the announcement of a new kingdom and the ascension of a new king.

Everybody wants to be productive. We want positive results from our lives. When we put effort into something, we want to be effective. Whether it’s our jobs, our relationships, or participation in church life, we want to be productive, we want to be fruitful. You don’t have to be a Christian to find this desire in your life. But in this text we see that fruitfulness is a result of faithfulness. Listen in as we consider these themes in the life of Joseph.

In almost every area of life, it's easy to measure success. In school, report cards tell us how we're doing. In sports, we count touchdowns, home runs and goals. In business, our yardsticks are raises, promotions and earnings reports. But how exactly do you measure success in the Christian life? How does God measure success in the Christian life? Who are your enemies? People at work or school who don’t like you? Those who threaten your safety? How about terrorists? Scripture tells us that our primary enemies are Satan, sin, and death. These enemies are actually much closer and deadlier than any others. But like David in Psalm 108, our hope is not in ourselves for rescue from these enemies that are too strong for us—but in God’s Promise to conquer them! In this text, we see that God shows off His greatness by defeating our enemies. This is the Gospel of Jesus. Instead of living our Christian life overwhelmed by our foes, we learn that the Lord’s Victory—is OUR VICTORY! Many of us come to church and get around Christian community looking the part. All of the externals say that we really want to grow in the faith, mature in Christ, and walk in line with the gospel. But we often find ourselves unwilling to break the sweat that results in this spiritual growth and maturity. This is where God, in his wisdom, brings the struggle to us. He is committed to growing us along the journey. What we see in Scripture and life is that God’s regimen is often comprised of difficulty, affliction, pain and struggle. We would not voluntarily introduce these things into our own lives. We would go on a string of uninterrupted victories, comforts, and accomplishments. But in this text, we see the extent to which God is willing to go in order to save us and change us. Listen in as we consider a Great Struggle & a Great Salvation.

Many of us have a skewed view of ourselves when it comes to our appearance. But this misperception is heightened when it comes to our perception of our spiritual appearance.
