Does this sound familiar?
Your husband says something that makes you angry or hurts your feelings and you react in a way that escalates the situation. Then he gets mad because you got mad and you end up in a huge fight.
Rinse. Wash. Repeat. You wish the two of you could break the cycle but you don't know how!
Is it because he is being a jerk, or you are just being oversensitive? Yes.

My name is Abigail. My husband, Nabel, is not a good or kind man. His name means "fool" and boy does he live up to it! How could not recognize the danger in dismissing David as a warrior? And not just any warrior, a powerful one that had been anointed as the next King of Israel. David's reputation is known everywhere!
My husband's pride truly knows no bounds. This time, I know that the consequences are well beyond just my own embarrassment. I can't allow so much innocent blood to be shed. I know I have to do something and my hope is that God will bless my courage today.

This month, we are doing something a little different. Each week we will meet a woman who is facing a trial she cannot bear alone. We are going to find out how God meets here right in the middle of her mess and we are going to talk about the purpose behind her pain and how we, like her, can trust God's plan even when we don't understand it.
Today, we meet Hagar. A slave who became the surrogate mother of her master's heir and reaps the terrible consequences of a situation she had little control over.

My intention this week was to share my friend Melinda's story. She is on the same road of divorce that I am but years ahead of me where there is now redemption and reconciliation, but not in the way she was expecting. And we tried. Several times in fact. However, it is clear that God has decided it is not yet time for that story to be shared and that is okay.
But...now what? I had this climactic story to end my first podcast season with and things just didn't pan out that way. But God has given me another climatic story to share with you today. A story that also has an unexpected ending for the person in it.

In America, a divorce occurs every 13 seconds. That means that in the 2 mins that it takes for an engaged couple the recite their vows, 9 other married couples are breaking them.
Given that information, it is hard to imagine that there is anyone in our country that has not had their life touched by divorce in some way. Either personally, as a child, through family or friends. And if you haven't, you are very blessed. But if you have, then there are likely a few things you will hear in the episode that will ring true.

God tells us that we need to raise our children with dedication and effort, preparing them, not just for the worldly battles they will fight against in a culture that is becoming increasingly anti-Christian, but also for the spiritual battles they will encounter as the enemy fights against their pursuit of Godliness.
As a Christian parent, your job is to point your kids' focus upward instead of inward, but how do you actually do that in the middle of making sure they are fed, clothed, rested, healthy and safe?
