The Lord is just and a refuge for sinners.

God has given Israel the land, but many of them have not claimed it yet. Although, the Lord doesn't promise us an earthly conquest today, yet he has given us the kingdom that is here and is coming. Have you claimed this promise for yourself?

What do we expect God to do for us, between now and when the Lord Jesus returns for us? We often expect him to do one thing in our lives and yet he does another. Instead of always trying to interpret his providence in the present, we ought to be living faithfully for the future coming of his kingdom.

To live faithfully is to live by faith in Christ, identify your purpose (which is to glorify God and enjoy him forever) and fulfill that purpose, only in his strength!

What does it mean to live by faith? We know it is to receive and rest in the finished work of Christ everyday, but what are the fruits of faith? We know that faith follows but who, how, and why? Caleb is a great example of faith that follows.

Think of all that God has provided you. And he has provided you much more than you can imagine when you place your faith in Jesus. You have an inheritance that is unshakable stored up for you in heaven!

Has God been good to you? This is a good conversation starter when we meet someone who rejects his way of salvation. He has been good to us even when we have willfully rebelled against him. And he changes us from 'spiritual Canaanites' to 'true Israelites,' by the Spirit.

Hebrews 4.8 says, 'For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on.' So, we are confronted with a deeper meaning to the text we will consider today. In the face of so much trial and turmoil in life, who will give his people rest?

What does victory look like in the Christian life? ... It is to glorify God and enjoy him forever!

In our text this morning, we see the Lord's Warrior in battle and the Lord's Warrior in prayer, as two important characteristics of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
