Jesus laments over the Jewish people-and specifically-tells them what the consequences will be for all the sins committed by past generations.

In this, the seventh and final 'woe', Jesus will rebuke not only the scribes and the Pharisees, but the entire Jewish nation for presuming upon God's grace and thinking that God was stuck with them regardless of what they did or how they lived.

NOTICE- THIS SERMON HAS POOR AUDIO QUALITY.--This is the third set of -woes- Jesus pronounces against the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy of self-righteousness.- They thought they were in right-standing before God because of their external conformity to God's law.- They were wrong.

In this passage, we have the second of six pairs of -woes- Jesus levels against the scribes and Pharisees. Here he rebukes them for losing focus on what really matters and for distorting the priorities of God.

In these verses we have the first two of seven woes. In this first set, Jesus condemns the Scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy of false zeal. They were religiously zealous but for all the wrong reasons. Thus, they did more harm than good. Here there is an important lesson for Christians to learn.

God has given certain gifts to his Church in order to help the Church reach spiritual maturity. Among these gifts is the office of pastor-teacher, or elders. In this message we examine the role of elders within the church and how the local church best benefits from this gift.

Jesus uses the Scribes and the Pharisees as bad examples of what not to be like, and then instructs his followers as to what they should be like and from whom they should receive their instruction.

In this passage Jesus turns the table on the Pharisees and asks them a question regarding the sonship of Christ, which they cannot answer. However, in linking himself to Psalm 110, Jesus wants his audience to understand four important truths about himself, four important truths regarding the person of Christ.

When we talk about Christianity and we ask ourselves what the defining concept or the defining character trait of Christianity is, the answer is love. Jesus had much to say about love and the importance of love in the Christian life. Thus, love is hugely important to God-love for himself and love for our neighbors. In fact, love is at the heart of Christianity.

We live in a dark world, but there's hope. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. And it's not just a light at the end of the tunnel, it is a light that enlightens everyone. It is a light that brings light to all mankind.
