In this passage Jesus is preparing the disciples for the tragic events which are about to take place, and then he offers them words of encouragement. It's a passage we can all relate to and learn from as life often does not unfold the way we think it should or had hoped it would and then we find ourselves lost and confused. This is a passage that offers encouragement during difficult times.

Here Jesus makes known to Judas that he knows he will betray him. It's an amazing passage which demonstrates for us the great humility and love of Christ as he purposefully goes through with his own betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion.

Matthew presents a contrast between the woman who anoints Jesus with expensive oil and Judas who decides to betray him. What is even more interesting is that Jesus does not stop the woman from pouring -some would say 'wasting'- very expensive oil on his head. Why is that- We'll explore the answer.

In this passage we see Jesus telling his disciples that he is going to be crucified, and we see the Jewish leaders secretly plotting to kill Jesus. Two evil acts. Neither one by accident.
