Grumbling is the outward expression of unbelief! The Jews, to whom Jesus spoke, grumbled at His words that He was (IS!) "...The Bread of Life that came down out of heaven." Again, Jesus will not, cannot fail, in saving His people...the unbelief of the Jews is no indictment on the truthfulness of Who Jesus Christ is! Be not shaken! For, "No one can come to Me" says Jesus, "unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day" (John 6:44)

Without the Resurrection there is no hope. However, because He was raised from the dead, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, my sin is gone. Because He lives, I, too, will live, even though I should die. He has risen and so shall I!

Are you alarmed that the World refuses to believe in Jesus Christ? Don't be! The Gospel message is not failing nor is Jesus Christ failing! He will save all that the Father gives Him to save! And not only, but He will also preserve them until the end in holiness, and raise them up on the day He comes again! None who believe in Jesus Christ will be disappointed!

We are responsible for what we know. Many people know about Jesus Christ, they know what the Bible says about Him, they know about His miracles, His death, burial and resurrection, and yet do not believe in Him! Their rejection of Him is rejection of life eternal, as He is "the bread of God" that "Comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world."

Many approach Jesus as the means to an end, ie. come to Jesus and He will make you prosperous and peaceful. Friends, come to Jesus as the end itself! Jesus did not come so that you might indulge your flesh. He came to bring life to the man and woman dead in their sins! Jesus is the Only One who brings life to the world.

Why do people seek Jesus? Often because they think He is there to give us things...health, wealth and prosperity. Jesus challenges these folks by saying, "Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." (John 6:27)

"Judge not the LORD by feeble sense, but trust Him for His grace; behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face." - William Cowper, 1774 The Lord leads His servants into hardship in order that they might reap the benefit of knowing Him more fully!

The Church is finite and limited, "In over our heads" as some might say. We live in a World full of needs that we can't possible begin to meet. Our true weakness in the church is not a lack of resources, but a lack of knowing how great our God is and that He alone has what this world needs and He alone is the One who will meet it!

Why didn't the Jews receive Jesus? They are a religious people. They have the Scriptures (The Old Testament). Many assume we worship the same God, but have differing opinions about Jesus Christ. Jesus said that the reason they do not receive Him is because they do not love God! The Scriptures are about Jesus Christ. They have missed the point of the writings of Moses. The Scriptures are not about making ourselves better, but about knowing the One, who alone can save the sinner.

Our culture, feminism in particular, has undermined and belittles the important work of women. As with older men, older women are also vitally important to the local Church! The Gospel warrants a godly disposition and character among older women. Instead of older women removing themselves from service in the Church, they are encouraged to be a blessing especially to the younger women in the church.
