Dean Paul examines an unexpected turn in the first chapter of Ruth when a foreigner, unfamiliar with God and excluded from God's people, nevertheless shows the Lord's faithful kindness to her mother-in-law, who has succumbed to bitterness. In this we see grace in all its beauty: God's answer to our meager prayers and his unfolding redemption that culminates in the love of Jesus.
