From a human standpoint, there wasn't a better suited choice for king over Israel than Saul. He seemed to have it all, yet ended up leading a regime filled with the insanity of fear and hate.

What made the real difference between Saul and David?

There is a simple, yet profound truth: God is love. It is this love that came to us from heaven walked with us on earth, and died for us on the Cross. It captures and converts; cleanses and constrains. In a word, this love is Jesus. 

He must be received. For only through Jesus can we truly love God and others. Do you know Him today? nIf you don't, I pray you will before this day comes to a close.

Is it better to admit you don’t know something or pretend you do? What is your go-to? Why do you lean one way or the other?

One thing is for sure: God wants the real you. He can work with us

when we stop pretending and start depending on His power. May we acquire the heart-cry of Psalm 5 and learn to deliver the goods, not just play the part.

David tells us how to stand in the midst of corruption. Have you ever felt the impulse to flee? Be afraid? David did as well. Here’s how he dealt with it.

As our nation begins “a new day” or “the long night” (our new

president has indicated both), I want to look at a psalm David wrote at the beginning of his reign — his “Inaugural Address” as it were.

Though last week’s address stressed unity through tolerance,

David begins by singing of “mercy and judgment.” National security is preceded by personal purity. I pray God will use David’s conviction to guide our hearts through the days ahead.

Though we may not know what tomorrow holds, we know we have salvation and deliverance in Jesus Christ every day.

This is the theme and the hope of the book of Isaiah. As we begin preaching through this prophecy, let us anchor our souls in the Rock of our salvation

This is the way...walk in it. We could not have known how pertinent this theme would become! What do we do in the days ahead? Ask for direction, follow it, and fully embrace our Lord’s statement, “I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life."

Happy 2021! We made it through one of the most challenging years in recent history and found our God is ever faithful! We have grown in spirit and in number. I am filled with praise for His goodness to us!

 

Goal-setting has been the focus for many this past week. Here’s a secret: when our will lines up with God’s we replace rigid goals with daily guidance and overcome every obstacle by faith. As the psalmist said, “Order my steps in Thy Word…”  Psalm 119:133

 

I pray this message will help you find your balance and begin the year with a firm step in the right direction.

Joy to the world The LORD is come! The hope of all nations, born in an obscure village some 2,000 years ago, lives today and brings life and light to all who will receive Him.

Isn’t that Good News? I love the snow and family traditions, but

nothing compares to the truth, “I am come that ye might have life. “ He embodies the good news of this season — our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you can focus on Him this week. Find quiet moments to pause and meditate on this Good News. I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
