Edward learns how hard it is to be a secret agent for the King when behind enemy lines in wartime.

Edward and Jack go to the town of Kineton where Jack lives with his Mum and Dad. The town is full of enemy soldiers.  Whose side is Jack and his family on? 

Edward and Roland ride to Kenilworth, where Edward meets the King's two sons, Prince Charles and Prince James.  

Edward joins his father, Sir Richard, and is sent on his first job as a secret agent. An adventure he shares with a new friend, known to everyone as the Laughing Cavalier.

The first story in the 'Adventures of Edward' series.  8 Year old Edward is frightened by strange men who are searching for his Father, a cavalier working for the King.  Edward decides to be brave and manages to escape.
