What if the thing you've been calling a flaw... isn't actually the truth about you at all?
β³ Connect with the host, Tara LaFon Gooch on all platforms
Imagine sitting across from someone who's been exactly where you are β carrying rejection wounds, performing for approval, second-guessing every step β and who found her way out. That's Kathryn May: transformational life coach, author, and host of the Freed to Lead podcast. In this episode, she and Tara open up about the beliefs that quietly run your life without your permission, and what happens the moment you finally see them clearly.
As you listen, you'll start to notice your own patterns showing up...the striving, the shrinking back, the old stories you've been telling yourself for years.
Picture this: you stop earning your worth and start resting in it. You hear the words "it is finished" and, for the first time, actually believe them. You feel the weight lift; not because you worked harder, but because you finally understood what was already true.
That's what this conversation opens up. Kathryn walks through her own healing journey, the difference between religion and relationship, and a simple framework (recognize, repent, renounce, replace) you can start using today to break agreement with the lies and come into agreement with the truth.
You don't have to keep performing. You get to rest in the finished work of the cross.
Press play now. Let this episode meet you exactly where you are and walk out lighter than you walked in.

The Gospel Explained
β³ Connect with the host, Tara LaFon Gooch on all platforms
Do you know the gospel? Maybe you've heard the word your whole life; in church, in passing, quoted in a verse somewhere but never actually understood what it means, or why it's relevant to you.
I didn't either, not really. My own journey to knowing Jesus started just a few short years ago, and once I finally understood it, it changed everything about how I see myself, how I move through hard days, and how much confidence I carry.
This week I'm sharing my heart and walking you through the whole story of the gospel, simply β from Adam's choice in the garden, to the impossible standard of perfection none of us can meet, to why Jesus had to be born of a virgin to make it right for you and me. I'll tell you what tetelestai means; the word Jesus said from the cross, "it is finished" and why that word carries so much weight. And I'll talk about why hundreds of people who saw Jesus alive after the resurrection were willing to die rather than take back what they saw.
No one dies for a lie.
By the end of this episode, you'll be able to explain the gospel to someone else in a few minutes. So grab your tissues, because this is deep, and if you're anything like me, you won't keep your eyes dry as we express gratitude for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Confidence Gets You In the Room. Capacity Keeps You There.
β³ Connect with the host, Tara LaFon Gooch on all platforms
Nobody warns you that success has a weight to it. More responsibility, more visibility, more people watching how you carry things and somewhere in the climb, the confidence that got you here stops feeling like enough for what's here now.
In this solo episode, I'm breaking down what it actually means to be built to hold; not just confident, but capable of carrying more without cracking under it. Confidence gets you in the room. Capacity is what lets you stay there. And that's exactly what the GRASP Method builds in you:
Gratitude loosens your grip. When you trust God with what He's already given you, your hands open up to receive more instead of white-knuckling everything out of fear.
Responsibility is where capacity gets tested. It's the decision to own what's in front of you instead of outsourcing the outcome to your circumstances or the people around you.
Action is where capacity gets proven. You don't grow it by thinking about it; you grow it one obedient step at a time, even when the fear hasn't left yet.
Sight is what anchors it all. This is where I get into the science; your brain's reticular activating system, and how getting clear and specific about what you want actually trains your brain to start scanning for the evidence of it, everywhere.
Purpose is where capacity finds its "why." When you know what you're carrying it for, you can carry more of it; because purpose doesn't make the weight lighter, it makes you stronger underneath it.
I bring in Scripture along the way, including 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 and Philippians 1:6, because capacity like this isn't something you manufacture on your own. It's something God builds in you.
If you've ever felt like you don't have room for one more thing, this episode will reframe what room actually means and Who it comes from.

You Think You Have More Time. This Brain Surgeon Sees What Happens When You Don't.
β³ Connect with the host, Tara LaFon Gooch on all platforms
In this episode, I sit down with neurosurgeon Andrew Brunswick, the honest and reflective voice behind itsbrainsurgery on Instagram, where he shares raw, unfiltered mindset reflections often recorded right from his car after a long day. Andrew has spent years in the operating room, sitting with patients and families in the moments where life and death hang in the balance, and it has shaped the way he sees everything, from an ordinary Tuesday to the people sitting right next to him.
We talk about what it really means to live present instead of on autopilot, and why it so often takes losing something to finally appreciate it. Andrew opens up about a guitarist who lost feeling in his hand and what it taught him about gratitude for the body most of us take for granted. He shares the story of a patient whose entire identity was shaped by a single hormone, and the haunting question she asked him before surgery: "Will I still be me after this?" We also talk candidly about phone addiction, the way social media hijacks our attention, and how much of our lives can slip by on routine while we assume tomorrow is guaranteed.
Andrew shares some powerful reflections from his years in practice, including:
"I watch people run out of time for a living."
"How much of who I am is just cortisol, a title, and a full OR schedule?"
"We don't only lose the time when we're on the device, we lose the time around it too."
If you have ever caught yourself sleepwalking through your own life, distracted from the people who matter most, or waiting for someday to finally live with intention, this conversation is your wake up call. It's a beautiful reminder that gratitude isn't something we wait to feel. It's something we choose, today, before time runs out.

20,000+ Views, a Book Deal, and a New Job: Inside Nia Luckey's Breakthrough Year
β³ Connect with the host, Tara LaFon Gooch on all platforms
This episode is a big one for me. Nia Luckey is back for her third time on the show, and honestly, every time she comes on I get a little emotional, because I've watched this woman go from rock bottom β burnt out, finishing her second degree, not even sure what was next β to giving a TEDx talk that hit over 20,000 views, landing a book deal with a major publisher, getting promoted, and now she's stepping into a TV appearance too.
We sat down and just talked through the whole two-year journey. Not the highlight reel version β the real one. The four to six months she and her husband spent vetting coaches before they found me. The moment she said yes to "the scariest option possible" even though there was no guarantee it would work. The anxiety before rehearsals. The start-stop-start of writing a book while also starting a brand new job.
What got me the most in this conversation was when Nia said working together gave her "borrowed confidence" β that she could lean on someone who believed in the goal until she believed in it herself. That's exactly what this work is supposed to do. It's never about me having all the answers. It's about walking a path with someone until they can see it clearly enough to walk it on their own.
She also said something I haven't stopped thinking about β that there's a "trust recession" happening in the coaching industry right now. Too many people taking on clients they were never equipped to actually help. So she shares the three questions she now tells everyone to ask before they hire a coach, and honestly, I think every person considering coaching needs to hear that part.
This isn't just a success story. It's a real look at what it costs, what it takes, and what's possible when you find the right person in your corner. If you're sitting on a goal you haven't said out loud yet, this episode is for you.
In this episode, you'll learn:
If you're ready to become the next version of yourself; in your career, your confidence, or your calling you know where to find me.

Forgiveness: The One Thing Standing Between You and Everything God Promised
β³ Connect with the host, Tara LaFon Gooch on all platforms
You've prayed for the breakthrough. You've believed for the promise. But what if the one thing standing in the way isn't your circumstances, your timing, or even the person who hurt you β what if it's the grudge you're still carrying?
In this episode, Tara LaFon Gooch takes you inside a single verse β Luke 23:34 β where Jesus, nailed to the cross, forgives the people crucifying Him before anyone repents, before anyone asks. No delay. No gap. Just release.
Tara unpacks the biblical principle of space; how every moment you leave an offense unaddressed becomes occupied territory and shares the deeply personal story of writing a letter to her estranged father, only to learn he had already passed before it reached him. What followed was a moment of unexpected grace that reshaped how she understands forgiveness, gratitude, and restoration.
If you've ever wondered whether holding onto something is quietly costing you what God promised, this episode will challenge you to close the space and let God fill it with gold.

What Japanese Pottery Taught Me: A Biblical Look at Kintsugi and Restoration
β³ Connect with the host, Tara LaFon Gooch on all platforms
There's a 400-year-old Japanese art form where broken pottery isn't thrown away; it's repaired with gold, and the once-shattered piece becomes more valuable than it was before it ever broke. That's not just art. That's what God does with your pain.
In this solo episode, Tara unpacks Kintsugi as a living picture of biblical restoration and gets personal about the season she was certain her own break disqualified her, until God showed her that the very thing she was hiding was about to become the thing that made people trust her most.
About GRASP GRASP β Gratitude, Responsibility, Action, Sight, Purpose β is the framework at the center of everything Tara teaches, and it wasn't built in a strategy session. It was forged in her most broken season, while she was walking through depression and anxiety, as God met her in the pieces and taught her, step by step, how to turn the cracks into gold.
You'll also walk through the theology behind the metaphor (Psalm 34:18, Isaiah 61:3, 2 Corinthians 12:9, Ecclesiastes 3:11, 2 Corinthians 5:17), and why the gold in Kintsugi isn't just decoration; it reflects light, the same way we're meant to reflect God once He's repaired us.
This episode is an invitation to stop hiding your break and start letting God trace it in gold because it's already finished. Tetelestai. You are not a repaired version of who you were. You are a new creation.
In this episode:
If this episode speaks to you, send it to the one person you know is convinced their break is the end of their story. It might be the exact thing they need to hear today.

The Holy Spirit Told Him His Own Books and Ministry Weren't True (Here's What He Did Next)

When Everything You Built Isn't What God Asked For
Imagine spending five years building a ministry, writing four books, and gathering a devoted following; only to have the Holy Spirit convict you that none of it was true. That it wasn't the message He wanted you to carry. What would you do?
This week on the GRASP Confidence Podcast, Tara sits down with Mason Ledbetter, who lived exactly that moment. After five years fully immersed in deliverance ministry β writing four books, teaching believers how to "cast out demons," and becoming one of the very "spiritual gurus" he now warns others about β Mason received a revelation that turned his entire theology upside down. He spent two months begging God to confirm it, again and again, before he could bring himself to take his books offline, dismantle his ministry, and walk away from the community, the platform, and the identity he'd spent years building.
What This Episode Covers
Why You Should Listen
If you've ever felt the tug of the Holy Spirit asking you to let go of something you built your identity around a career, a community, a belief system; this episode will give you the courage to listen. Mason's story is proof that obedience, even when it costs everything familiar, always leads somewhere greater than what you gave up.
