Before he ascended to heaven's throne, the resurrected Jesus gave his disciples a mission - to make disciples in every place they went. Jesus' mission is now the mission of Christians everywhere. But we don't go it alone; Jesus promises that he is with us now and forever.

Why do Christians celebrate Easter?

The resurrection is the hinge of the Christian faith. If it really did happen, then we have a source of joy, strength and love that can never perish, spoil or fade - and that's worth celebrating.

Life has a way of bringing us to the end of ourselves. Where do we turn to hope in those moments? Jesus' encounter with the criminal at the cross gives us hope that no matter how far gone we think we may be, God meets us there to show us his mercy.

We're need unity - in our relationships, homes and world. Yet only one thing is truly powerful enough to hold people together in love - the good news of what God has done in Jesus.

Paul uses 3 things to paint a picture of the new unity Christians have in Jesus - we are a family, citizens of the same kingdom, and a home for God's Spirit to live in.

Most people (Christians too) live thinking that we're mostly okay, but just need a little bit of help every once in a while. The confronting thing about Christianity is that it says that we are 'dead in sin'.

Christianity says that we don't just need a little help every now and then, we need to be brought back to life. The good news is that there is a God who moves towards us with love, mercy, grace and kindness in Jesus to bring us from death to life.

We all need a guide in life. Sometimes we look to other people, to books or podcasts. Christians have been given the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom to live, and to reveal to us things we would never see for ourselves.

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 1:11-23

Christians have a new identity that is completely located not in our work, our family, or our community, but in Christ. This brings us both blessings and purpose in living all of our lives to bring praise and glory to the God who has saved us in Christ.

Our attitudes towards those with less power says a lot about what we believe to be true - about us, about others, and about God.
