  • Change is up to Me

If you want to grow and develop, you have to embrace change!

Last week, I talked about changes coming to the episode. This week, they're here! Instead of coming to you once a week, episodes will be coming to you three times a week - Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays.

While the episodes will usually be a little shorter than in the past, they will still carry the same clout with powerful quotes for you to use with your teams or on your own leadership journey. Most episodes will still cover multiple quotes, but when I want to dive deep into a quote, I'll usually cover just one.

You heard the first of these episodes in the new format on Monday. (If you didn't, make sure you go back and check it out!) Today, I talk about four great quotes on the concept of change revolving around ourselves.

We hope you like the new format. If you do, give us a rating & review and spread the word to other people who you think would like the show and would benefit from the inspirational and impactful messages from the quotes.

In this episode, Scott tackles three quotes on the concept of growing through change.

We hope you like the new format. If you do, give us a rating & review and spread the word to other people who you think would like the show and would benefit from the inspirational and impactful messages from the quotes.

  • Changes are Coming

Change is on the horizon! Beginning next week, I will be releasing 3 episodes per week - one on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday. The episodes will be a little shorter in length (probably), but they will come to you more often.

My goal is to create episodes in the 5-10 minute range, cut down to one or two quotes per episode, and create more of a "short, but sweet" type of show. Yes, I will still discuss the quotes a bit, but I will zero in on the key points and main focus of each quote.

Eventually, I may end up moving to 5 or even 7 days a week, but for now, you will hear this show three times a week. I am excited about the new format, and I hope you are, too. Please spread the word about the show to anyone you know who you think might be interested!

  • Leaders are Readers #3 - Open Your Mind to New Perspectives

If you're a coach or leader of any type of team, if you're not reading, you're not growing! This is the final episode of my "Leaders are Readers" series. You will hear 3 quotes and a powerful passage out of a book that will show you the impact on us if we read to gain different ideas, opinions, and perspectives as we navigate our role as leaders.

I hope you have enjoyed this series on the importance of reading as much as I have enjoyed bringing it to you. If you have any great books to recommend for coaches or leaders, let me know by emailing me at [email protected]. And remember to Rate, Review, & Follow the show!

  • Leaders are Readers #2 - Why Reading Helps Your Leading!

If you're a coach or leader of any type of team, if you're not reading, you're not growing! This is episode 2 of my "Leaders are Readers" series. You will hear 4 powerful quotes that talk about why it's so important for leaders to become readers if they aren't already.

For those of you who are not readers, DO NOT run away from these episodes! They are for you more than they are for those of us who consider ourselves readers already. You will find GREAT IDEAS in here to help spur you on to becoming someone who is a reader, and you will find ways to read that make it easier for you to become someone who considers himself/herself a reader.

Enjoy this journey through quotes about the importance of reading for those of us in leadership positions. And remember to Rate, Review, & Follow the show!

  • Leaders are Readers #1 - If You're Going to Lead, You Need to Read

Today, I am starting a new series. I was not planning to do so. I was merely going to do the quote that you see as the title of the series, "Leaders are Readers." Then, as I did a little research on that quote, I found quite a few more quotes to help explain the importance and value of that quote and concept. The more quotes I found, the more I wanted to talk about them.

And so, we will have a few episodes that deal with the importance of reading. For those of you who are not readers, DO NOT run away from the episodes! They are for you more than they are for those of us who consider ourselves readers already. You will find GREAT IDEAS in here to help spur you on to becoming someone who is a reader, and you will find ways to read that make it easier for you to become someone who considers himself/herself a reader.

I will also be introducing a new format that I am going to try to put out to the world that deals with the idea of reading books. Not sure yet when I will talk about it, but it will be at some point in this series. Also not sure when I will actually start whatever it is I plan on doing, but again, you will hear that at some point in the series, too (I think!).

But for now, enjoy this journey through quotes about the importance of reading for those of us in leadership positions!

  • Shame & Belief

We leave our series on quotes coaches should NOT use and start back to the more conventional concepts of quotes we should use. However, today's episode is not about a specific "quote" like so many of the quotes I have spoken about for most of the 260 episodes before this. Rather, today I talk about two paragraphs in Dr. Brene Brown's book, Dare to Lead.

I have talked about Brene Brown numerous times before and covered a lot of quotes or ideas by her. Today, I talk about a couple of paragraphs that are important for coaches to hear because they discuss ways we create either shame or belief in our kids.

  • Quotes Coaches Should NOT Use #9

We move into the ninth and FINAL episode of a series on quotes that coaches should NOT use in their own personal development or with their teams. Today, we wrap up by covering two concepts that we have probably all dealt with in some way before: comments about summer/off-season involvement and what we say to our teams after contests, especially after we lose.

Whoa! Those could be huge, Scott! That's right; they are! That's why we needed to make sure we covered them.

I hope you enjoyed the series. Come back next week for a new episode that is back to our usual type of topic - one that covers the type of quotes that coaches/leaders SHOULD USE with their teams!

  • Quotes Coaches Should NOT Use #8

We move into the eighth episode of a series on quotes that coaches should NOT use in their own personal development or with their teams. Today, we cover a concept that ALL of us, not just coaches, need to be aware of and try not to do when it comes to communicating: sending mixed messages.

I have two different scenarios that I discuss in here where I have seen coaches make this mistake. I'm sure there are probably more, but you will get the gist of the matter by hearing about these two situations where mixed messages are sent.

Also, you will hear me talk about "Team Building Through Positive Conditioning" in this episode. If you are interested in diving into that concept a bit more, I suggest you pick up the eBook or video of that presentation or have me out to your school to talk to your coaches about it. • Quotes Coaches Should NOT Use #7

We move into the seventh episode of a series on quotes that coaches should NOT use in their own personal development or with their teams. Today, we cover one quote that I heard a coach say on another podcast that he said we should not use with our kids, and I thought, "Hey, I need to do that one in my series on quotes coaches should NOT use!" So here it is.

The coach who said this is Josh Stewart. He said it as a guest on episode 213 of the JAMODI podcast. Josh is a coach I know from here in Montana, and I loved so many of the messages he had on that show. But the one that I knew I had to talk about was about something that too many of us say (or live by) too often.

As you know, I have been asking you to send in a statement or two that you have heard or used that you feel we should not be using as coaches/leaders. If you plan on doing that, I need you to do it this week because next week or the week after will probably be the final week of this series. If you have something you want to contribute, please email it to me at [email protected]. The more we can get out there for coaches to be aware of, the better off we will all be.
