The word troubled means to stir or disrupt. Another definition is to disquiet or render anxious. The events of the day can disquiet or render us anxious. God did not intend for His people to live in fear. The bible is clear that Jesus is our strength, and He will be with us all the days of our life. It also says that His grace will make up the difference where our strength is insufficient. The only way we will know God’s full strength is in our weakness.
In our text, the man had sat by the pool of Bethesda for 38 years, waiting for his opportunity to be healed. Jesus comes along and asks if he wants to be healed. The man replies with excuses. The way the pool worked was that an angel would trouble the water, and the first one into the water would be healed. Your miracle is in the trouble. If we want our miracle, we must go into trouble.
