Hudson becomes insecure once his friends point out that he’s sad a lot of the time. Hudson starts to explore what this feeling of constant sadness is. His mom teaches him what "depression" is and how it’s something that she suffers from as well. But instead of calling it “depression”, Hudson learns to call it his “dark cloud”. Once he’s able to add a name to his feelings, he’s able to express himself, which helps his friends understand him in a new and helpful way.

Hudson and his friends have all played on the same soccer team every fall and spring. Their next season is about to begin and they are dreading the fact that, yet again, will be the team with the Pink Jerseys. They hate this because they are constantly riduculed and made fun of for the color they wear. Oh, and they have never won a game...ever. With inspiration from Hudsons Dad, they begin working on their skills, chase after their first win, and learn what it means to be a team...a pink jersey team.

It’s no surprise that Hudson has a crush on Olivia. It’s when his family asks him what it is about her that he likes, he doesn’t have a clue because he doesn’t know anything about her. After they suggest that he talks to her, he expresses his tremendous fear of having a conversation with her. Hudson learns about courage, which is given to him like an imaginary crown on his head. And it’s with this courage he talks to her and learns all about her. And when she is feeling sad and insecure, he learns what it’s like to encourage someone and give them the courage that they might need as well.

Who’s not a huge “fan” of something? Whether it’s a sport, a movie, a toy, or even a “fan” of your bedroom fan, we’ve all got something we love and cheer on every chance we get. This particular story highlights Calvin and his passionate love for the card game and TV show PIZZA MAN! Does that sound ridiculous to you? Perhaps it does to you, but to Calvin, it’s everything for him, and it’s in this episode that he learns about loving who he is and the tremendous impact of self-esteem.
