Before celebrating Jesus’s resurrection on Easter Sunday, this week we’ll dwell on the unfortunate prerequisite to his resurrection, which is of course his death. Join us at the foot of the cross as we ponder the meaning of Jesus’s crucifixion, as narrated in John 19.

In John 11, Jesus performs a dramatic sign, but only after challenging his friends to trust him, even when he disappoints them.

In John 9, Jesus heals a man born blind, who as it turns out, was not the only one in the story who couldn’t see.

In John 4, Jesus has his longest conversation in the gospels with a Samaritan woman. Like his conversation with Nicodemus, it begins with misunderstanding, but where it goes from there couldn’t be more different.

In John 3, a respected, educated, religious leader comes to visit with Jesus at night. At the end of the conversation, he appears to still be in the dark. 

When Jesus overcomes three temptations in the wilderness, he not only demonstrates his quality as Israel’s Messiah, he also strengthens us when we are tested in similar ways.

We take a glance at 2023 and the constructive changes we are looking to make.

As organized religion, especially Christianity, is losing its influence in our society, many churches are looking for ways to repair and restore their credibility. This week we’ll look at a text from Matthew 5 in which Jesus tells us how to build, regain, and maintain our credible influence in the world. 

In Matthew 5, Jesus begins his famous Sermon on the Mount with a series of blessings and promises known as The Beatitudes. While the beatitudes are more descriptions than commands, they do have a way of inviting us to live differently in a world Jesus is turning upside down.

When Jesus recruits four fishermen to help him share his message with the world, they immediately follow him. Their decisive response to his call is one of the last positive things we see them do in their time with Jesus. We’ll explore why on Sunday.
