A change in the calendar doesn't mean a change in purpose. In 2018, we're going to fulfill a commission that's been around for thousands of years. We want to make disciples who make disciples.

Exodus 14:5-12, 16:1-3. The temptation to remain comfortable is powerful, especially in our modern world. This can be a dangerous and unhealthy path to fall into, however. God’s call for our lives does not include our comfort, and this thought should guide our approach to beginning another year.

John 1:1-9

We come to celebrate light. We come to shine our lights in defiant hope that darkness will not win.

Illuminate series. Isaiah 8:19-9:7. The world is a dark place. Nevertheless, God has brought light before and he promises to do it again.

Illuminate series. 1 Thessalonians 5:4-8; Isaiah 58:1-10. The world is illuminated when the children of God shine our lights of love, mercy, and justice.

"Illuminate" series. 1 John 1:5. Where God is...there is light. The darkness must flee. Night will be no more.

Ephesians 1

Hebrews 12:14-17. Do not let the root of bitterness grow in your life. Instead, feed the root of gratitude.
