Christmas is a time of year when many people shine bright lights on the outside and the inside.  In today's episode I share positive experiences I had with really kind people during recent weeks. With reflections on the holidays, spirit of giving, and so much more. I even start the podcast off with a little holiday poem I wrote in the wee hours of the morning when I recorded this podcast. When I get the urge to write, I just have to do it, and that's what happened in this episode. Whether you hear this before Christmas, or after, the message is still the same. Kindness can go such a long way, and we are all in this world together.

Happy is such a great word.  What makes you happy? Do you need lots of excitement, exotic vacations, new toys...or does the whisper of the breeze in the trees bring a smile to your face?  I had a great walk this past week, and the rain on my face reminded me some of the best things in life are not always visible.  In today's episode I chat about happiness, seizing the moment, finding the right time and balancing what needs to be done vs what can wait until tomorrow.  Of course I provide an update on Sinéad, how her feet have healed up from bumblefoot and talk about chicken politics in the coop.  For the record, I probably should have gone on time out myself in the chicken coop after this episode.  Be sure to wear earbuds on this one if you have little kids in the room.

Is it real or is it fake?  When I was growing up, fake news was typically gossip created by a bully. In today's age, it's the same concept yet delivered in a different manner. Technology can be a wonderful thing, if used for the right reasons. In today's episode I talk about adapting to technology changes, especially for people who are getting older. With new AI technology, it can be a challenge to decipher when things are really what we see.    
*IMPORTANT - ADULT CONTENT:  I used one or two words that could put me on time out in the chicken coop. I also talked out cannabis being legal at the time I recorded this podcast, and this is only in reference to where I live in Canada - I can't speak for other areas.

What have you learned in the past week?  If I asked you that question today, what would you say? In this episode I look at life, learning and how we learn may change as we grow older. I share stories of learning experiences that could have had a better outcome with different communication strategies. From a senior who got fired from his guitar lesson, to a young student humiliated on stage, events happen that can affect our own self-esteem. With a bit of hindsight and humility, we can change our own directions and find ways to work together.  Never give up, you are worthy!

Ah, we all have different opinions on manners, but one thing is for sure: to bring your best manners forward when working with people is a great way to share kindness. In today's episode I share a few stories and discuss ways that through good manners we can be kind, inclusive and simply nice to others.

Witches don't belong on Christmas trees, so why are stores blending the holidays into one big commercial display?  In today's episode, I share my own feelings on early celebrations and discuss reasons why retailers may be chomping at the bit to get a start on Christmas decor. With Halloween around the corner, I also reflect on the challenges of fireworks, and how time and place can make a difference for those affected.   Am I getting old and grumpy, or just simply saying it like it is?  Lots to talk about, and with a bit of consideration we can all find ways to get along.

In dealing with grief and loss, I found solace in fitness, and attempted to regain control of my world through excessive dieting. This is the story of my journey, and my appreciation for an amazing family doctor who helped me regain a healthy focus.
